Maybe im clueless but Quay Walker has stretches of awesome. Far better than last year and has potential to be a top 5 MLB in the league. Maturity is night and day. I truly believe Campbell made everyone around him worse. He was horrible all year, injured or not. 7 years of service playing a heavy impact position. Not everyone has long and illustrious careers so its no fault of his own.

The fact we could have made a SUPER BOWL appearance without a functioning safety all year is incredible. Keep Owens for depth and special teams, and keep Savage cheap. Branch would have been awesome but LVN plays a far more premium position when it comes to value. But we turned around an ENTIRE receiving core and TE room in two drafts. Draft a corner, safety, and a LB with the first three rounds (We have a 1st, two 2nds and two 3rds). Then bolster the guards/center.

Whats Bakh's cap hit next year? I think we're stuck with him for another year, or am i wrong?
Bakh counts $39M on the cap in 2024. Last year of his deal.

If we cut him, it’s a $21M cap savings.

This will be the 3rd straight coordinator that was basically chit after spending a decade of high level draft capital on the defensive end

Not gonna hold my breath that they hire the right guy, and that something else isn't going on behind the scenes that makes that job tougher

We dont know how to hire defense. John Middlekauf from Cowherd's network said the hires havent really mattered since we havent been able to get this right since Holmgren, unlike the offense, which is a well oiled machine year in ands out with drafts and acquisitions. Closest we got was the bump after the 09 draft, and after the 2019 FA splashes/draft. I'd looove a philosophy change. Sanders wasnt a bad coordinator but it was time for a change after 2008. We dont have Jalen Ramsey or Aaron Donald.

Barry's defenses peaked at end of year, but the final drives were always letdowns. Like the Michael Rodney guy said above, he was a good guy and built his relationships with that character trait, but it's just too bad that Rod Marinelli's daughter did not marry a better defensive coordinator .

Do we grab a position coach/young guy, or a retread since there was tons of candidates but not many openings as expected from a HC perspective?

Grab Vic Fangio or John Leonhard

Fangio is going to Eagles

I am tired of the Fangio/Capers type of 3-4 defense though.

I think they should go to a 4-3 and hire young assistant coaches who are well regarded.

Chris Harris killed it in 2021 interviews with the Packers. Plus, we need BLACK coaches. Pack lack diversity
