This scene always gets me. Livia only existed on the show to watch her son suffer. shyt, she’s even partly responsible for his son’s nihilistic life outlook later on. One of the few times she genuinely smiled was here and the one where she tells Artie about Tony setting the fire. It really is no surprise to see Tony and Janice being the way they were, lol.
Oddly enough, the bit here reminded me of when Tony himself was grinning at Paulie on the boat in ‘Remember When’. It’s like everything those Sopranos touch erodes and they get the most satisfaction out of it.
