I been needing to watch Rome and Six Feet Under for years now

Rome is great. It's a lot like Oz in that it set up Game of Thrones for HBO. They cancelled it after 1 full season because the production costs for Rome weren't considered worth it; so they rushed the 2nd and final season, which suffers for it. But the project they had with Rome is what persuaded them to pick up Game of Thrones.

They should have slowed the pace of the show. They could have ended season 1 with the end of the Caesarian civil war, and then ended season 2 with Caesar's assassination. Then they could have spent season 3 dealing with the fall out of the assassination, and concluded that season with the end of the second civil war. And then season 4 on the Second Triumvirate, concluding with its breakdown. And finally season 5 would have ended with the final civil war.

Instead they compressed all of that, 20 years of history, into just two seasons. It's such a shame because it would have been the goat show if HBO had paid it the respect it deserved and committed to five seasons. Not only is the history fascinating enough to justify that, so was the acting, the costumes, the sets, all that shyt. It was a visually stunning show, it wasn't just the history which made it so good.

@Sukairain do you think the show The Borgias on Showtime had a case for GOAT?
