I've always been a "The Wire is #1 and The Sopranos is #2" guy, but this rewatch is really making me get to the point where I say the two are interchangeable(and I'm only on season 3). My indecisive ass finna take this back once I do my The Wire rewatch:francis:

Season 5 of The Wire really brings it down :francis: I usually give the Sopranos the go ahead cause it debut first plus even wit 6A, there wasn't a dip in quality like S5 of The Wire but S3 & 4 are so great that I don't blame anyone for putting it first, but it's def between those 2 shows.

Honestly tho, I'm in the same boat with rewatches :russ:

This is what they should've done with the Wire from Season 4-5

Dukie, should've been in Michael's spot

and Michael should've been a fukkin boxer, the storyline and dynamic with him and Cuddy would've been perfect

former solider turns Michael into a damn boxing machine :wow: , touch on the history of boxing/sports athletics on the east coast, maybe take a few cues from Tyson's biography and mix it up, him and Namond reconcile in the last episode

:manny:then again that's why I'm not a writer

and honestly they're both popular loved shows for a reason.

Real talk: The Sopranos LITERALLY saved my life. I was extremely suicidal at one time in my life, even reading up on heroes who killed themselves just to get the courage to do it. Then I saw that episode when ole boy hung himself. None of that peaceful-swaying-on-the-rope shyt. Fam, that scene fukked me up so bad that I never considered it again.

You forget these guys are all sociopaths. Yeah they're funny and show qualities of being decent human beings, but there's always something to remind you deep down they're pieces of shyt.

Joe Pistone (the real life Donnie Brasco) said as much in his book The Way of the Wiseguy.

This one poor b*stard, he did something to make wiseguys think he was a rat. So they stuck a meat hook up his ass and hung him from a warehouse wall.

While he was alive.

I tell you this to drive home the most important observation I ever made while working undercover: wiseguys are not nice guys. Wiseguys aren't even close to being nice guys. In fact, wiseguys are the meanest, cruelest, least caring people you'll ever meet. They have zero regard for other people's feelings, rights, and safety. They will end your life with all the forethought required to flick off a light switch.

Wiseguys are barbaric. They may seem funny, endearing, and even admirable on TV, but that is fiction. In real life, wiseguys are capable of unbelievable atrocities. This other guy, a connected guy, he made the mistake of running his mouth and disrespecting certain wiseguys. They cut off his dikk and stuffed it in his mouth and left him to die in the street.

(snip)

I don't want anybody getting the wrong idea. I spent a lot of years around wiseguys and I know them pretty good. There is nothing romantic about them or what they do. Understand what we're talking about here-bad, bad men. Are they funny? Sure. Kind to their mothers and children? You bet. Generous to the help? You bet. But the same day they tip the valet $100 they might stick a meat hook up a guy's ass.
