I think the best relationship Tony had on the show was with Silvio... He was a leftover from the old crew. Tony really respected him more than anyone on the show. Silvo was the PERFECT underboss. He was rational, kind, but was probably the most ruthless. He wasn't a hot head like tony.

Also he wasn't afraid to call tony out his BS like the scene where he told tony, he had a problem with authority, or how he made him see the other side of the vito saga when tony was talking about bringing him back in. Just so many powerful scenes wit the two. It's like Silvo didn't have to say anything, he just gave tony "that look" and he knew..

Phil was funny as hell, he had classic lines for days as well... I like Johnny Sack as well. Even though tony was a hot head. He tread lightly with any disrespect for NY guys. And his idiot cousin started the whole beef with phil...
Sil was Consigliere, not Underboss.
Bacala was UB, when he dies its Paulie

Do you all think Furio ever got over Carmela when he went back to Italy or did he carry a torch for her for a long time? I wonder why he never had any children or got married.

Jackie Jr. had to go. Tony tried to keep him straight but he wanted to be gangster. There was no way Tony or Ralph could give him a pass after killing Sunshine, and shooting at a room full of made guys. Ralph would’ve lost all respect of his crew and the rest of the family. Far as them comforting Rosalie, that’s how these guys operate.

That’s what always bothered me about Phil and how he took his brother being killed. He killed Angelo, a father and grandfather without a second thought. His brother got killed because of it, once Tony B was dead the score was settled.
Tony ordered Ralph to do it.
Remember when they were sitting in the car after Jackie rang Tony, Tony told Ralph it was up to him if he wanted to give him a pass, that was bullshyt, plausible deniability. In case of recording devices, to any 1 listening it sounds like he is leaving it up to Ralph , but he's actually giving hm an order ( Go with your instincts on this one, Ralph), telling him people are gonna talk about him if he doesn't take him out (No balls) Ralphie didn't have a choice

I never got the attraction. Furio is a stone cold enforcer, did Carmella think a relationship with him would be any different? He’s even more old school than Tony cause he was made over there.

I think the point of it was to show how different Italians and the Italian Mafia are to their Italian-American equivalents. Carmela liked him because he was so different to every other guy in her social circle, even though he was a gangster too.

Scenes like this show how little Italian-Americans understand the history of Italy and their cultural heritage. He has to explain the north/south divide to them

The other important scene is at an ending of an episode, I can't remember which one. It shows Furio cooking his own meal fresh and contrasts with Tony nuking last night's leftovers in the microwave. It gives the feeling that Furio is a totally different type of guy, because he's a genuine Italian he has a much more sophisticated lifestyle than Italian-Americans do. He also probably wouldn't treat Carmela as callously as Tony did; even if he would end up cheating he'd do it in a discreet way and not fukk anything with a pulse

Just recently realized after my last watch through how anytime Tony spoke to someone who was wired up, he was either extremely vague with his answers, or would jus ignore the questions and change the subject completely. He either had a 6th sense for that shyt, or legit didn't care or wasn't paying attention to what they were saying

Found an example

He already knew Jimmy was a rat at this time. Why do u think he's saying all that shyt about being a 'lucky guy'

If Tony had that drink with him, Ralph would've been loyal to him for life. Still might've fukked up because he's a loose cannon but he wouldn't have hesitated to run through a wall for Tony. The satisfaction that came with snubbing Ralph in that moment wasn't worth it, no matter how good it felt.

That's something that happens every day in real life. You're in a relationship for a long time and the small doses you get of a new person feel like ecstasy. The grass seems greener until you have to spend every single day with this new person and that initial spark is gone. That's when Furio would've seen the irritable annoying side of Carmella, and Carmella would've seen that Furio wasn't far off from Tony in terms of being a ruthless person and slave to his work.

I don't know how much speculation into Furio and Carmela's nonphysical affair is worth it, but there's certainly a lot of pure fantasy, lust, idealization going on, but at the same time, Furio is a much different man that Tony.

I have never been married, but I connect to the kind of affair or whatever transpired between those two, sort of a mental love affair, I had a similar thing, maybe two, that never quite materialized, but the tension and attraction gets so thick, you can taste it. Every touch, or word takes a deeper meaning.

Anyway, Furio was a brutal mafia enforcer, Carmela, somewhere in her head, if not heart, knew she could never really have a life with Furio. But, he wasn't Tony at all. Stoic, where Tony was complaining and stuck in the drudgery and consumerism of America, Furio was simpler, the old world gentleman, where tony embodied the entitled and sneering American. Furio, while able to beat a woman, would never gripe about his wife to an underling, and call her a bytch. He also had a taste for culture, art, wine, food, that Tony never really did. The mains scene, as was mentioned is the home made pasta vs microwaved leftovers with milk.

One of my favorite funny moments is when Furio went to get the money from Matt and Sean. They sitting around getting high in their underwear and someone is knocking like the police. Sean looks through the peephole and that visual of Furio through it was :russ: they give him Tony’s cut.

Furio: Give me one thousand dollars :birdman: then he starts telling the other guy that they’re fags in Italian because they have all their underwear out :laff:

Coked out Ralphie back in season 4  And he's hooking up with Janice :gucci::pachaha:
Janice was fukking with him; Janice fukked anyone who was single, was adversaries of Tony, and had their own case for the thrown.........The reason Tony constantly told Bobby to check his bytch in other words; although he saw Bobby as a cousin/Brother(coming up under Junior as well) he utilmately knew Janice would be the death of Bobby; had Bobby played the sideline a few more months, that couldve been Paulie getting popped when NY did the HIT rather than Bobby
