James Gandolfini Was So Much More Than Tony Soprano

Falco: We were doing a scene where he’s eating ice cream in the middle of the scene. And then we had to do it again. And we had to do it again. And every time, even when they said cut, he continued to eat the ice cream. And they put more in, and they put more in, and eventually he would kind of look at me to say his line…and he wasn’t home. He was in, like, a full-blown sugar coma. Just from—he looked like a giant toddler.

And he kind of looked at me, and I realized, Holy crap, he doesn’t remember his lines. So anyway, we had to wrap the scene and reshoot it another day because he had too much ice cream.

I know it was said he really was eating on the show but god damn

he was eating good from that HBO gig, double entendre, dont ask me how.

RIIP to Gandolfini. I'm not sure any television performance has surpassed what he did.

He's got some really good character moments in multiple movies too.

Wish we could've seen Gandolfini in The Night Of. shyt, with the way they treat their prized actors over there, I wonder how many HBO projects he would've been in by now.

I'm high but a few more thoughts on the final scene:

- S1 finale Tony and his fam escape the weather into Artie's place / Series finale is planned out in advance.
- S1 Tony enters and is surrounded by his gang, literally couldn't be in a safer place / finale is surrounded by strangers to the point of taking note of everyone around him.
- S1 Tony tells his fam to always remember moments like this / finale AJ repeats this and Tony had forgotten about it and even thinks AJ is being sarcastic...aka Tony has passed on whatever wisdom he contributed to the fam, AJ replaces him.
- S1 the first people Tony kisses a greets are Adriana and Chris / Finale he's responsible for both of their murders.
- Saints Tony is waiting at Holdens for dikkie, who he'll never see again because he's been murdered / Finale Tony is waiting at Holdens for Meadow to show up, who he'll never see because he'll have been murdered.

That shyt was genius, would've been interesting if they ended the series in Artie's restaurant - the pilot has Tony preventing a murder in it which kicks off the entire series (beef with Junior/Artie, his mom tells Artie etc).

I don't think a single person is behind it. I think NY was always looking to take him out, but the method of Phil's execution finally gave them the green light - Patsy and Paulie were informed, but gave it the .

AJ will not join the mob, like Tony at the end of Saints, and the entire point of the series is that the cycle has slightly improved. AJ and Meadow are flawed but improved versions of their parents, which is the best anyone in life on this planet can hope for and achieve.

Ranking Tony's comare's:

1. Irina. She was super fine and I understand why a ChiLite's song had Tony reminiscing and crying in his car.
2. That airline stewardess.
3. Ralphie's comare
4. Chick who blows him in his car, first affaire after getting shot by Jr.
5. Charmayne, don't think Tony was made at the time but gets points for knocking her off anyway.
7. Chris's comare in Vegas
8. Gloria Trillo
9. Svetlana
10. Chick he bangs when he's bored and spending time at his office, still not sure if this was a dream or if he really hit it.

Gloria was the most bangin but points off cuz she was Livia 2.0. she was also the most heartbreaking in my opinion.

Did you watch her TALKING SOPRANOS episode? She said the original scripts had her saying/doing the usual comare shyt but she intentionally spiced everything up from language to sexual positions to make her role more memorable. Said James Gandolfini was

Like every other scene he's eating something.

and for the record Goodfellas is leap years better than Casino.

I recently rewatched both of them on the same day and I was surprised by how much better Goodfellas was.

Whats wild is with all the actors on the show that passed away, Dominic Chianese(Junior) is still alive. You woulda thought he woulda been one of the first to go due to age.
