idk how/why Tony thought he was gonna be his successor and that he could run the family trough Chrissy

Tony was a bit of a dweeb himself, especially if we're counting Many Saints. He thought he could mold Chris into being a leader, and he might have if he actually cared but he was just doing it out of tribute to dikkie.
Tony's real legacy is Chris, Meadow and AJ.
You could argue that Meadow turned out alright, but by the end she's given up on being a doctor and wants to go into law because......her dad got profiled by the FBI

Pretty much just blind hope...and thinking since Chrissy was family he could always be trusted...
Jersey was fukked b/c no one couldn't run it like Tony without being completely absorbed by NY. Sil couldn't handle the stress for a few days as Acting Boss...Paulie was too violent and unstable, same with Ralphie, and Chrissy...Bobby was too soft/not a killer. Maybe Vito, but we all know what his limitations were. There never was anyone capable to lead even if there was no choice but to name someone.
