trade them for what? How can you sit here and say we could of traded them if you dont even know what the other teams were offering? this isnt 2k.
The other teams weren't offering anything back. Nets wanted Hill, but they were only going to trade their exception for him. Another team wanted Kaman. Whats the point of keeping these players if we aren't going to re-sign them and they are only hurting us by winning games? The goal should have been to get worse at the trade deadline and Mitch failed. Boston, 76ers all made trades to get worse. That's why they are in position to land a franchise player and we aren't.

ehh. I think its a bit soon to be deeming anyone in this draft a 'franchise player'. Thats dependent on alot like the situation, coaching, development capital, etc...

Steph Curry was drafted at 7
Noah at 9
Rondo at 21
Bynum at 10
Iggy at 9
Paul George at 10
Drummond at 9
Lillard at 6

and just last year MCW was drafted at 11, a guy everyone slept on. now he looking like an all-star
so there's nothing set in stone when it comes to top picks. id love for this fanbase to show more faith in the Lakers organization, we have excellent resources as a franchise and Kobe is probably one of the best mentors you can have on your roster, considering his knowledge and skillset. We have many great like Magic and Kareem that are still involved and help with development.

Brolic... Alcoholics
If they lose that Jazz game, yes. The lottery is all that matters though. If they don't win it and get the first pick for Embiid, it doesn't matter.

Embiid is the only franchise pillar. I'm alright with trading the pick for a star like Irving or Love if they don't get #1. I know i'm in the minority with that thinking though.
No to this guy

Watch how many people defend him though. mitch overrated and we'll be mediocre thanks to his timely ineptitude. :snoop:

lol, you must want us to be some shyt. I can only deal with one losing season. But since these one year saboteurs are hellbent on ruining the tank we'll be trash for the next few years. I hope the Raiders get it together now cuz I'm gearing up for the Lakers to be some total shyt for the foreseeable future.

No to this guy

If they can trade their pick for Irving or Love, you guys really wouldn't do it? Who in this draft do you think is gonna be better than those two besides Embiid?

Franchise players are usually drafted in the top 5. Lebron, Wade, Garnett, Duncan, Anthony Davis, Rose, Kyrie Irving, Westbrook, Harden, Dwight, Kevin Love, Chris Paul etc all went in the top 5. Sometimes you can land a superstar outside of the top 5, but its rare. That's why this is so disappointing to me. Lakers had a chance to put themselves in a position to draft in the top 5 no matter what and management blew it.

maybe nobody...but thats not the point. The point is we could have an all star player with a rookie contract for a few years thru the draft...and then later get Love (or somebody else) down the line with our cap room anyway.

Or they could have a certain All-Star locked up for the foreseeable future. Even with Irving's injury problems, he's on his rookie deal for one more season and is restricted after that. LA could let him test the market and just match whatever he signs.

If they wait for Love to sign, that means they're gonna have a roster of one year guys again next season. Is he gonna want to sign with the Lakers when Kobe, at 37, is the only player under contract?
