Only thing is you don't want to risk it with the type of player that Kawhi is. Popovich is seeing the long game here. Having Kawhi out there for extra minutes could've have made things worse.

Exactly. Pop did that with Tim Duncan in 2000. Duncan could have played in the playoffs, but Pop told em no and go get that surgery on his knee. Pop said he was thinking more long term than short term. You can NEVER fault a coach for that
