Damned if you do....damned if you dont
Yea. Luckily prostate cancer is one of those you can handle quickly when caught in time. Seeing a few older men in my family, etc deal with it, I understand why he carried it this way, but…given his position of course it would be a problem. That explains it
They wanted to take control of the narrative after he was better, because it could have gone a different way. If the operation had not be successful, he would have been stepping down.
If they revealed a cancer diagnosis, and it leaked, which is would have, his enemies in and out of the party would have been running with that.
AUSTIN HAS CANCER NEEDS TO STEP DOWN

Don’t matter the optics because delaying the news has only made things worse and put even more criticism on them about it.yeah, but his team controlled those optics. They made a calculated risk. If they revealed back in December you get this drumbeat of stories and moral outrage from Republican senators and who knows who else.
Don’t matter of the optics because delaying the news has only made things worse.
It’s totally obvious what they did. Everyone was scared of losing their job including the person involved, so they made a dumbass decision that’s only made matters worse.Maybe. But, all I am saying is this was their call. They wanted to play it like this. There must be a reason. They didn't forget, or think no one would notice. Or Austin didn't really believe it was a private matter and no one would care.
Pretty wild. Maybe I'm overreacting, but seems like a potentially fireable offense to do this as SoD...especially considering ALL that's going on in the world.
Dudes get fired for less in normal corporate jobs.
