I have a question since Ukraine wasn't on my radar before the Russian invasion
why didn't Russia just overwhelm Ukraine with sheer numbers and brute force. This is what I expected when the war first started

NATO has been training and arming Ukraine since 2014
The majority of Russian equipment and training is 3rd world country level.
Add to that, the top intelligence agencies in the world are feeding the Ukraine military with info on an hourly basis.

So because Russia lacks the ability for large scale precision strikes...
and lacks a disciplined and well armed ground force...
their only option to win is large scale bombing of civilian infrastructure...
but doing so will open them up to stronger reaction from the international community...
