He is 100% wrong because Russia is in Europe (regardless if only a portion) and has been a staple in European history and affairs for the past 300 years. More than half their population live in the portion of Russia that is on the European continent - so what the fukk are you talking about?

Ayo, for a head that hasn't been following any of this, why is Russia invading Ukraine? I don't watch any news outlets so I'm lost on what's going on.

this is a huge oversimplification but since there was a revolution in 2014 ukraine has wanted to move toward a european (like EU) and western sphere of influence and away from a russian sphere of influence. the revolution removed a more pro-russian party from power. after the revolution russia took over a part of ukraine and supported russian separatists in the eastern part who formed these quasi-statelets not internationally recognized. russia is claiming that ukraine joining NATO (which they want to do more since russia started deeboing their shyt in 2014) is an existential military threat but ukraine is nowhere near meeting the requirements to join NATO. you will hear different explanations from different people but i personally think it is mainly because of putins desire to have russian influence over countries that were historically part of the russian empire and USSR and that he considers "really russian"
