Surrender is an option. That's what happens everytime you lose a war.
No one is saying that the Ukranians can "win" the best they can say is that they're not losing .....yet. If Russia took the gloves off and just started pounding them with artillery strikes this is over. Russian warned nikkas when they attacked that Nuke Plant, It's fukked up but they were willing to risk a nuclear meltdown (and blow back to Russia) just to turn off the lights to parts of Urkaine.
Winning to them is like saying that Taliban defeated us. Russia owned the Urkaine for hundreds of years they're just not gonna give up. Besides they can't if they did Ukraine would demand and get US troops on the border of Russia.

I knew a Bulgarian kid who's father was a mechanic for the Soviet embassy The reason why they needed a Mechanic to fix their cars was because they didn't want the americans bugging them. Why did his father work for the Soviet embassy (which Ukraine was a state) because Bulgaria at that time was allied with the Soviets.
That's like saying had the South "won" the Civil war and the North invaded The "soveriegn" states of the CSA that they would be "justified". I mean they would but that doesn't mean the world would be "justified" to send troops.
Ukraine was a province of Russia for hundreds of years, In fact the Nazi's supported an Ïndependent State" Of Ukraine (until they didn't) There were tons of Ukrainans in the Nazi army whole divisions of nothing but Ukrainan troops.
A divison is made up of at least 11 thousand people there were three Ukraininan divisons (but only two at one time) Not counting the Concentration Camp guards and police units.

I'm not sure what your anecdotal evidence contributes to this discussion. The Ukrainian people don't seem to agree with Russias invasion. The person they elected doesn't agree.
