OK. The US probably doesn't have a secret missile defense system. You happy? It's not reasonable to suspect that because of the article I linked. People who know the science and know the challenge say we're far from it. Read between the lines of the statement of the US military on the issue. A small number of missiles with simple countermeasures can be defended against. That does not describe the Russian arsenal. Don't be thick headed.

Also, the US military WOULD have a reason to declare its ability to defend against missiles. This is something they teach you in school...you announce your capabilities while keeping the technology secret so that countries don't try you. It's like putting an ADT security system sign in your front yard.

Probably not is a more reasonable statement. But the US Government has a history of hiding information pertaining to novel weapons. And I disagree that the US has an advantage of announcing such a defense in the 21st century with China's documented active targeting American defense intellectual property via spies working in America.

I think the US/Nato believed Putin was bluffing the days leading up to the Invasion of Ukraine, so during the negotiations they had with Russia they were not willing to give into his demand..
