As ppl mature things definitely start leveling out,
but marriage doesn’t mean you are necessarily uniting with your physical preference; it means you are choosing someone to build a life with. One doesn’t have to be the prettiest, lightest, or tallest to be chosen for marriage.
But yea, as we get older some men aren’t as vocal or stringent about it, but if you sit with young ppl, many young ladies in HS/undergrad with a darker complexion will tell you about the wild things that have been said to them regarding complexion.
There are guys I know who made it a point to “taste the rainbow” but married a Black woman at the end, which is what ultimately counts when it comes to building a life and creating kids, but one wouldn’t necessarily feel preferred if most of the women (or men) who came before them looked nothing like them.
However, I will concede, I can’t state with full certainty that every breh prefers LS.
