Watching
 Too laughed at franchises before Rock was attached? Fast Five was big because of the hyped up Rock/Vin Diesel fight..that shyt was dead after Toyko Drift...before that. GI JOE? Everyone was hating on #1 with the QUICKNESS..Rock gets attached and it does legit numbers and now he's not credited it for it? Always some soft cat whining about someone who makes this shyt spin around here.

I'm not hating on him but Fast and Furious and Rise of the Cobra made over 300 million each before he got on the sequels.

And anyone that goes to see a movie based on one person is a stan, another big nikka could have been in his roles and the outcome would be the same.

That's true however I'm talking about the pre-Rock movies.

Despite the critical reviews, the franchise was highly successful before The Rock joined for Fast Five. The four movies combined to make nearly $1 billion at the box office (with the 4th one accounting for over a third of that) vs. the $284 million it cost to make those four movies. To say a franchise is struggling when a) every movie's box office gross greatly exceeds the cost to make it and b) averages nearly $250 mil per movie, is way off base.

Exactly. The franchise had a built in fan base before The Rock.
360 million fast 4 made is not blockbuster status. fast 5 made almost double that. sure it was still successful but rock's addition made the series into a big blockbuster it is today. everybody recognizes that.

I wouldnt use the word "struggle" by no means but i think he took it to another level from where it was

Might not have been super blockbuster status, but it was still a hit and very successful movie though.

I agree about The Rock's presence taking the franchise to another level; Fast Five was my favorite one of the series.

(Bolding the next part because certain individuals are going to stop reading after the first sentence)

At the same time, it's very hard to deny the fact the franchise was profitable and successful before The Rock was cast as Luke Hobbs.

Fair play to the man though he is a draw, always has been really, don't think anyone can really deny that. Why isn't this in the arcadium though instead of TSC,has zero to do with wrestling.

Dwayne fans say the darnest things when they want to write revisionist history. :what:

Nobody is going to deny that his action movie star power didn't in some way contribute to the box office in the 5th installment but to act like 360 milli without him wasn't a blockbuster hit is a complete joke on your part. :snoop:

People seem to forget that the 4th installment was their "redemption" installment. It had people doubting if it was going to be up to par or not. That's why it did less than 5. Part 5 would have did similar numbers with or without the Rock because fans finally believed the series was back to old form. Nobody ran out in extras JUST because of him.

Yes, go ahead and ignore the facts I stated about why the box office sales were different. Now your going to sit here with a straight face and downplay 300+ milli.

Please tell us about the last 360 million box office movie you wrote. :leon:

Zero to do with wrestling? Just the Miz movies threads? The Blandy movie threads? The Cripple H movie threads? The Austin movie threads? The Angle movie threads? The problem with those? They didn't draw and weren't successful. Rock did and it's on every fukking wrestling news site you can think of..as usual. Why? Because he's the only mainstream shining light pro wrestling has.

Calm down. They also aren't to do with wrestling.Happy? He's not a wrestler anymore, maybe, maybe one more match from him and thats it.This has nothing to do with wrestling quoting the box office numbers of his MOVIE.

Was Cena the WWE Champion around Survivor Series 2012 with some of the worst numbers since Bret and Michaels were champions in 1997?

I think ya'll are blowing how bad his last run was way out of proportion lol. It wasn't anywhere near prime rock, but he still had some decent promos, and I thought his feud with CM Punk and Cena(the first time around) was really good.
