If he went against Santino, not only would it have done just as well.. A new star would have been born enabling Santino to show more grit and shed his gimmick of wretched bytchassedness. Because we all know the Rock is selfless and does what's right for 'business' unlike some people..

As for that tag match it was doomed to fail! It had the fukkin Miz in it what the hell you expect the GOAT to do with that shyt!

The Rock was so big by the time he got out, McMahon chose him to face Hogan and Lesnar. Not Austin. So there was no "he couldn't have done it back then." He did. He carried every huge event he did during his prime with the exception of WM 15 and WM 17 which were both him and Austin as to the whys people bought the show. The feedback on those matches speaks volumes on who drew what and what not. So it is what it is. The Rock returning had the Internet going nuts...literally His return got CM Punk aka the Rebel so riled up, he felt inspired to do a "pipe bomb" crying promo to vent his frustration against greatness
