maybe raise the shoulder a little bit and turn your jab inward a little to bring the shoulder up?
when you are extending your arm to jab you can swing your back/right hip back in the same motion. this is going to rotate your hips and turn your body sideways and throw your shoulder into your jab in the way that you are describing. but the main benefit of doing this is not what its doing to your jab but the way that you can generate maximum hip rotation when you rotate your hips to throw your right hand because of the way that you were turned sideways by it.
heres rollie fingers throwing a pitch from a stretch.
you can really see the way that body weight is being moved from back leg to front leg as the hips are rotating and the body is turning from a fully sideways stance to a fully squared stance. how much power do you think fingers can get throwing a punch that way? they say that in boxing you cant teach power but you can definitely teach mechanics to maximize momentum generated. maybe we shouldnt say power and should say momentum and that way guys would understand what they are really trying to do.
when pitchers throw a pitch from a windup and not a stretch they turn away from the hitter at the apex of the leg lift to generate even more hip rotation and therefore momentum generated. some guys barely rear back and some guys have some really extreme rear back.
when you are extending your arm to jab and swinging your back/right hip back in the same motion you are really just trying to rear back to generate more momentum. or put differently you are just trying to rear back and rip.
but you dont have to throw your jab or your right hand this way to have a good jab or a good right hand.
you throw a pitch from a stretch and not a windup to shorten your throwing motion so that base runners dont have time to steal a base and in boxing the more you square your hips the more suddenly you can make your right hand come out. thats because when you square your hips you give your right hand a shorter distance that it has to travel.
you throw a pitch from a stretch to make your delivery quicker and in boxing you throw a right hand with your hips squared to do the same thing.
