Truth be told breh, I dont think there are many repercussions for doing so. It can bite you in the ass heavily during a background check but thats really it. I heard theyre costly though so often companies dont perform them.

If you know the ins and outs of the job enough to answer the interviewers who drill you, down to what is actually done in the office or on site then it could work.

So with the background checks do they call and ask your previous job duties?

honestly breh I am a student so I dont know about any of this. But thats the idea. They outsource the duties to firms that specialize in it though. Theres a lot of info in a SIN number

also another tidbit

The resume and cover letter is what gets you in there, but after that it may be on file but isnt really looked at closely again. The interview from that point on is all that you have to set you apart. This is knowledge right here, anyone will tell you.

In that case, if you lied about duties per se and then when you fill out all the background check papers, you may switch up your job duties without anybody realizing.

I wouldnt do any of this though, maybe a small boost but not a flat out lie.

:whoa:

I don't lie either but the reason I ask many college students enter into their respective fields and don't know much. I have a friend who looks good on paper but when he opens his mouth to speak you can tell.:duck:

When your and older man like me, your resume should be flipped like the other dude mentioned.

My school is like a single line at the very end. Ive been interviewed for jobs that I technically wasnt qualified for from a education background perspective soley because my experience was too hard to overlook.

Would you guys mind if I had this moved to the college an careers sub-section, many don't even think to use it and since there's less traffic, a post like this would stay up on the front page longer and be easier to find.

Technically, that's where it should be but you guys got a good thing going on in here.

Yes :snoop:

I had a job offer and they checked my employment background and asked the salary, when I worked there, how I left(fired, quit, laid off etc) and what was my title/duties

Thread needs to be stickied.

Word. The same regurgitated threads about woman problems and shyt pop up every 10 minutes and get discussed to no end, while a thread like this where we could drop knowledge and help each move up gets ignored with the quickness.

Perhaps my best work :obama:

Notes:

- Please ignore the messed up capitalization (Debt and Equity) in the last paragraph :mjpls:
- I left some info in there to show you how I personally format my letterhead and what not
- Make sure your letterhead and font/overall theme in the cover letter is the same as it was in the Resume/Transcript (if required)
- Don't only focus on skills. Some jobs require personality traits as well, for instance in I-Banking youre required to work 80 hour weeks. I took a risk and listed my experience working factory graveyard shifts to show them that I really had that drive and propensity to work long, dreadful shifts in fast paced environments without any complaining (among other things).

I really wanted that job :bryan::to:

Nice work breh. I'm at Waterloo right now looking for a co-op job, thats what inspired me to start this thread:smugbiden:

Could you give examples of the type of questions that should be asked since you say you're in hr?

Questions would be.

1. Why is this position open

2. What is your expectation of the position.

3. Do you expect someone to work this position forever or do you expect this individual to move into a different role within the company

Those are in general....for IT related jobs you should ask...

1. What is your overall OS infrastructure ( windows server 2003, 2008, RHEL, etc )

2. What is your network infrastructure ( cisco, HP, juniper, etc )

3. What are your expectations of the day to day functions of this job?

Questions like that
