I've always hated how unintelligent and simplistic black movies have been. Other than spike lee back in the day, the majority of black movies have been bullshyt love stories, comedies, madea movies and thug movies.

The problem with black movies is that the majority pander to black women and the ones that don't are all about drugs, gangs, or prison.

Yeah, that shyt stagnated a lot of black folks mindsets. Imagine if there was a well written Sci Fi movie with well rounded black folks as the main cast.

Steven mcqueen is a very intelligent director and has made some great movies. Too bad he focuses on actors like michael fassbender and stories like the IRA.

irrelevant....a lot of movies got bad reviews all year.....it's just good to see a different type of black film compared to what we've seen the past few years.....u know the tyler perry joints and the kevin hart comedies.....bout time we got something completely left field like we did with the will smith sci fi joint....

and it wasnt a bad movie... it was just a nice lil date night flick, nothing more nothing less

How is this different from any other role we've seen black actors in? Hollywood only green lights certain films, and most of those films don't express any black intellect. It's always sex, sex symbol, violence, guns, gangs, drugs, irresponsible men and women, slaves and butlers. We need black independent filmmaking void of Hollywood influence. There is a crowd that desires that type of film making.

It lowers the chances of another black scifi movie getting made because that one was unsuccessful. So might not see one for a while.is what Im saying.
