On a personal, I remember when my family moved from NYC to Houston. Just like most New Yorkers mom could not shut up about New York, and how backwards Texas was. Education, lack of pubic transportation, socially backwards, fat, wasteful and slothful.

Wouldn't you know it this summer she went back to New York to see some family and then she realized she'd become a Texan.

She couldn't handle New York anymore. Have to take the train every where, the noise, the weed smell..

From what I see in my field, those positions will be filled with foreign professionals.

Im seeing so many Indian (from India) healthcare professionals live in the most shythole states and cities and open successful practices because

1) Im assuming since they're foreign born they don't have a regional/lifestyle preferences outside of making as much money as possible (and they travel wherever/whenever they want domestically and internationally)

And

2) In those same areas there is so little competition among specialists, they can rake in all that sweet sweet government subsidized medicaid money from them hillbillies all for themselves.

But I do feel there will be a breaking point if those benefits are continually attacked

Those people will eventually pack up and leave if the MAGA virus is in their patients. They're some of the worst kind of people to treat because they think that they know better than the doctor they're there to see. They get mad when the doctor tries to prescribe things that will prevent illness instead of just telling them there's a single thing they can do that will "fix" their diabetes. They watch fox news and listen to Alex Jones and think that they should have the highly risky meds advertised between episodes of their favorite talking head.

And that's ignoring the blatant racism these cacs have.

I've sometimes seen people suggest that anyone concerned about moving to a red state while not liking their policies can just move to a "blue" city in a red state.

But this article is a perfect example of the flaw with this thinking. Cities/towns/local governments in general are ultimately subject to the whims of the state they are a part of and that should be kept in mind when considering an out of state move.

Libertarianism is awesome if your goal is to ensure education and health care will get even worse, supercharge economic inequality with no safety net and accelerate environmental degredation.

Most serious shortcomings in America (education, health care, wealth inequality, runaway corporate mafeance) are directly tied to it being more libertarian than other major countries. There's a reason why literally no country goes for real libertarianism.
