Globalization is the reason for everything.
Plus the music coming out the South is garbage. The South consist of 13 states and still hasn't produced more classics than Queens, NY.
They have very few good song writers coming from the South that can produced a song with a good concept and an interesting topic. It's mostly about how much money they got, how they pimping a whole bunch of biitches, and all the bricks they sell.
Its embarassing to listen to these rappers, because their music has no depth. I don't need substance or a message, that's why I can enjoy Redman, but I at least want something creative.

HIP HOP has fallen off. Rick Ross, the hottest dude out, can't go gold. If you kids don't see that rap is waaaaaay the fukk over I don't know what to tell you.
NYC still has 1/5 of the platinum selling artists amongst its ranks.

NY rap fell off coz the vets stopped putting on the new fresh dudes spittin that crack now the new rappers found their way, what homage?!
living in the internet is globalization which speaks to my first post.
GFID is TD & Rich Forever combined and sounds exactly like a Rick Ross album should sound. He delivered exactly what he was supposed to.
i'm here because i've been listening to hip hop since i'm 6 and old habits die hard.
now, why you aresuch a moronic poster is the big question.
This is the best answer, NY is too unique. Also doesn't help that these regions took alot of NY sh!t and made it their own (punchline rap for example)NY rappers are not talented or relateable basically nowadays....when NY has really been hot typically its been hot by default....they wuz the hottest when they first came out bcuz they were the first really doing it,all hiphop media wuz based in NY and bias....but then Cali blew up and took over,Cali fell off and it went back to NY bcuz Cali wuz weak and blackballed, soon as the south gained steam they took it back from the east.....east coast has never been able to really take the game from anybody.
Main reason is they culture is unique and all they own,u gotta give em that.....but nikkas don't relate to it,that's "east coast shyt".....most of the country don't live a "east coast shyt" kinda lifestyle....Cali,Midwest,South are all pretty similar....soon as we got our own representation in hiphop there's really no need to listen to dudes that are too "east coast" we don't relate to it,rap is about sellin a lifestyle and or makin it relatable....NY rappers talk about the worst shyt they can think of as far as NY lifestyle is concerned lol, piss in the hallways, bytches settin u up in the telly, fiends in they building, buck fiftys....hardly anything makin the ny lifestyle sound good.....Stack Bundles wuz the last relateable nikka to me,and probaly bcuz he spent sum time away in Chicago.....if NY wanna say how different they culture is they need to just be happy bein relevant in NY only,or they gotta change they style up and get on what other regions been on,live how we livin...otherwise stfu....NY "sound" is the exact reason they won't become relevant, besides the current lack of talent
ny suck because ny rappers are making wack music period.
Or how bout lets talk about how u NY dikkheads sold hiphop out to these white folks long before it even had a chance to get started down here in the south.
East coast still grindin, west coast is ghost, south has risen againHIP HOP has fallen off. Rick Ross, the hottest dude out, can't go gold. If you kids don't see that rap is waaaaaay the fukk over I don't know what to tell you.
