All, I'm a consultant.

Currently switching to a new company but I have experience with pharma, providers and payors.

I think Obamacare aka PPACA (Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act) is a step in the right direction. We'll have to see what happens with Vermont before we can attempt a federal implementation of a single payer system. So that means not anytime soon.

I believe the real fight is at the local and state level.

Can you expand on that, friend?

health care is basically free there as it is.

Everyone I've talked to in health care has said it's bringing costs down on prescriptions and regular hospital visits.

I know this is a topic that's been done to death on here. But this video has some great points. We're paying more for less, with no real reason to do so. The amount of money that's charged for procedures, and medications seems like price-gouging to me. I'm not saying we need socialized medicine, but we need price-controls.

this is all truth. Earlier this year I had a consultation a week before a minor surgery. I seen the doctor a total of 3 minutes during the consultation, and was billed $140 dollars. If you multiply that out, it comes to a rate of $2800 per hour. :stopitslime::sadcam::huhldup: I thought I got :troll: when I got the bill.

That's a service someone is providing you...in a capitalist country they can bill you a billion dollars, you don't like it?

Find another doctor....

And if the other doc bills u 1.5bil?

Go to Mexico for surgeries brehs.
There will always be doctors willing to charge market value.
The government should not be in the business of dictating the terms of a legal private transaction.

If I open a shoe store and decide to sell each pair for a billion dollars, that should be my problem. If you don't like the shoes you can go somewhere else :manny:

What exactly are you talking about? Most people have health insurance and are limited with choices in their area. I guess they can go to a county hospital, but drinking a gallon of Bleach and Rat Poison might be a better choice than that. Then when you think you have good health insurance, they try to give you the cheapest treatment possible. Surely there is a better way than allowing insurance companies to have so much power over who lives and dies.

You talking like you a billionaire. You get sick and you're gonna shop around for docs breh?

The mysterious reference to Vermont, friend.

@Ill Clinton asked me my thoughts on Obamacare. I said it was a halfway step but the single payer system is the only way to go. To which I added, Vermont has to financially succeed in order for it to be accepted at a national level.

If you're asking what do I mean by success? I mean they have to prove they can run a sustainable economy that can pay for the health expenditure.

Folks in vermont have been trying since the 80s. So the culture of acceptance has been brewing for awhile.
