I know this is a topic that's been done to death on here. But this video has some great points. We're paying more for less, with no real reason to do so. The amount of money that's charged for procedures, and medications seems like price-gouging to me. I'm not saying we need socialized medicine, but we need price-controls.

Breh, this is news? :dwillhuh:

Health care is a for profit industry in this country, its big business. Of course they're gauging prices. The only way to change it is when all of us die and life starts over, maybe we can leave them a note about capitalism and health care. :ld:

Naw it's definitely not news, like I said this debate has been done to death on here. I just came across this video that sparked some interest. There are price-gauging laws actually. The government needs to step in and put price-caps, or restrictions on some of these costs. I'm not the type of person to ask the government for anything either. :smh:

Sadly the government is in bed with big pharma, and this whole obamacare could've actually done good, if it lowered prices. As it seems to me currently, it's just going to make things more expensive.

well then at least you know your anti-government friends wouldn't allow it

we in the industry are still laughing at Sarah Palin hitting y'all with that death panel steez

What industry isn't the government in bed with?

Just a fyi, you're currently living in an Obamacare nation. Its not something that is going to be implemented in the future. Its been a part of the healthcare system since March 23,2010.

Poorly run health systems with unfunded government mandates make things more expensive.

I'd say that's what America has turned into these days. I'm not very familiar with Obama-care, all I know is the negative or positive propaganda I hear about it on the news.

So you say you're in the industry? What industry healthcare or insurance? What do you think could be done to reduce costs?

Dude in the video is COMPLETELY on point and demolished a lot of bullshyt (for example, blaming excessive costs on lawsuits or obesity) that people blame for healthcare costs in the US.

Obama's greatest failure will always be that he didn't force the government option in his healthcare law.

People seem to forget, the only reason that law survived is because a conservative supreme court upheld it. If by some miracle Obama passed that single payer sh1·t, I would bet the Supreme Court would've ruled it unconstitutional. But he never had a chance with the senate anyways. He needed 2 republicans and Lieberman to pass it. They werent voting for single payer. Not to mention democrats who benefit from the Health Care lobby. In a perfect world, they would work to better the law that was passed

All, I'm a consultant.

Currently switching to a new company but I have experience with pharma, providers and payors.

I think Obamacare aka PPACA (Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act) is a step in the right direction. We'll have to see what happens with Vermont before we can attempt a federal implementation of a single payer system. So that means not anytime soon.

I believe the real fight is at the local and state level.

I honestly don't think he could have. He just didn't have the votes.

He ran on "Change" and that was his biggest selling point. It's what the majority of Americans wanted too and he didn't fight very hard for it. :manny:
