"Kam Chancellor damages people's souls." - Richard Sherman.
The above quote, courtesy of the Los Angeles Times' Sam Farmer, could describe the punishment Chancellor puts on opponents or the depressed state his play left Carolina fans in Saturday night.
The hard-hitting safety made numerous jaw-dropping plays. From bone-jarring hits to leaping over the offensive line on a field goal attempt -- twice. However, it was his franchise record 90-yard interception return for a touchdown that provided seismic damaged the Panthers' soul in the 31-17 Seahawks victory.
The pick -- Chancellor's third in the last three playoff games -- led to what is now being dubbed as the "Kam Quake" after CenturyLink Field briefly registered on the Richter scale, again.
Chancellor boasts the ability to offset Cam Newton's "Superman" skills, but the safety Chancellor said he doesn't want anything to do with the quarterback's moniker.
"He can have it," Chancellor said, per ESPN.com. "They call me Batman. I'm the Dark Knight. And I can't change in a phone booth or a closet."
Hes been my favorite on the team for a while to be honest..and thats hard to say because as a hawks fan there are so many likable and excellent players. ETIII is up there too...but Kam is just an animal and I think a part of why he's been my favorite is because he is somewhat overlooked. Yea he gets his props here and there for big hits etc...but he is just so fukkin good in all stages of the game as a strong safety. Huge stops in the run game..intimidation factor...clutch picks...decent coverage in general and is the leader of the defense and perhaps the team. Doesnt talk all that much..just goes out there and annihilates. That game last night was a quintessential example of his gullyness...and that was just one game. He PLANTED Tolbert while he had a head full of steam for a crucial 3rd down stop and Tolbert has gotta be 265 lbs..the field goal craziness..the pick 6...
Justfor other teams. He's one of the few players in the league that actually makes me feel bad for who he's tackling. I could tell he'd be a beast in 2011. I saw him flying around there as a safety and was like where in the fukk did this machine come from?
Im getting a jersey of hisFirst one of the "new era" hawks for me.
Quoted for Emphasis. All told, Lynch and Chancellor are the leaders of the team by personifying what the team is all about when we're at our best on both sides of the ball...
