Ohio St./Tennessee was a blowout in the first quarter and still did 14.3 million viewers. That's a huge number for a first round blowout. Watch what the game with Oregon does. That was basically an NBA Finals or World Series number :russ:

THEY STILL DID LOWER NUMBERS
THAN REGULAR NFL GAMES
WITH ZERO COMPETITION WHICH
IS WHAT THIS THREAD IS ABOUT.

PLUS THEY WERE PRIMETIME.

THE NFL GAMES WERE DAYTIME GAMES
GOING DIRECTLY H2H WITH THE
COLLEGE GAMES

THOSE GAMES WERE
SIMULCAST ON TNT/TBS/TRUTV/MAX
SO BEING ON 4 NETWORKS
AT ONE TIME MAKES THEM COMPARABLE

Those playoff games were all completely non-competitive. Like completely boring to even cfb fans
So of course the ratings will be less... plus they're on cable. Simulcast doesn't matter bc ppl are only going to watch 1 channel at a time

If you put a full scale production on tv or even social media and not a lot of folks watch it you’re wasting your time and money. Movies wouldn’t flop and shows wouldn’t get cancelled if ratings didn’t matter.
For sports those TV contracts have already been signed. Ratings are a mostly useless metric when it comes to measuring live sports on tv. It's not like fox or nbc can go back to the nfl and say "only x amount of people watched this game and that aint enough, we want 400 million of that 5 billion we gave you back".

I’m just waiting to see what happens when the NBC contract starts and hopefully they have games on NBC and ABC. Everybody got regular tv, everybody don’t have cable and streaming. Numbers wouldn’t be a discussion if numbers don’t matter.

They really don't. Because the NBA got paid regardless.

The ratings thru cable dominated viewership been more less the same for 25 years

The NBA viewership is not negative. But you can make numbers reflect whatever you want

A pair of Saturday NFL games drew a larger viewing audience than college football for the rollout of the sport's 12-team playoff.

The playoff game between SMU and Penn State averaged 6.4 million viewers on TNT networks, compared with the Texans-Chiefs game on NBC, which averaged 15.5 million viewers.

Later, Clemson-Texas drew 8.6 million viewers on TNT, compared with 15.4 million for Steelers-Ravens on Fox.

ESPN, ABC and others aired the other two college games: Indiana-Notre Dame (13.4 million) on Friday night and Tennessee-Ohio State (14.3 million) on Saturday night. There were no competing NFL games.

The overall average of 10.6 million viewers was higher than all but four college games this season.

Roger Goddell said he don't care about your Playoffs. All of the December Saturday's belong to him just like Christmas, MLK Day, and soon Labor Day belong to him.
Why are we comparing games on cable to games on networks like NBC?

Detroit You bytch Ass nikka
Goodell hoe ass wanted no parts of Ohio State. Why he ain’t put a game on in primetime? :brutus:
Listen, friend.

NOBODY WANTS ANY PART OF OHIO.

It feels like herpes is just in the air as soon as I cross the Ohio State line on I75. It smells like muffler pipes and engine cords. It smells like dirty abortion tools down there.

Michigan can save you breh. We have Anti Ohio vaccines up here.
