Also, did the wife Sarah figure it out? Is that was she was going to tell ScarJo but killed herself before she could?

I never thought of this angle that I saw in some comment section:

The entire film was an intricate illusion by the greatest magician in the movie CUTTER

cutter was behind the entire thing, he was working with angier as a mentor, and brought borden on beaucse he believed borden was a much better magician (as he say to angier when th two meet for the first time)

in the beginning of the movie while in court the judge asks cutter to explain the Transported Man, and Cutter says " i have the right to sell it on if i give you the secret to it the trick is worthless!!"

there you have it, Cutter was the man behind the transported man, he is the one who lead Borden to Tesla to begin with to help him, becuase he knew he deserved it.

Then borden uses it once, creates a bond with his clone and destroys the machine like tesla told him to, when angier buries his clone he gives the real secret TESLA to angier, angier then gets the clone machine and abuses it by killing his clones every night, at what point Cutter sees how perverse and crazed he has become, then helps borden to develop a way to beat him, and leads borden to angier at the end when borden kills him."

at first I took that line to mean he was just obsessed with magic and his tricks.... never really thought about it like that.... I only just figured the daughter knew by how so would play with her father and her uncle..

Tied for my favorite movie of all time. Simply a classic and Nolan's best IMO. People try to put garbage like Memento up there with it smh

this theory is so wrong in so many ways


first of all, if tesla already created one machine, he wouldn't have such trouble when it was time to create the second one... to the point that wolverine had to go there a few times and thought his money was being stolen


this movie really is just about three people obsessed with "magic" the twins were just as obsessed as wolvy... they were willing to destroy women and their child, just to keep up this lie.. the other was literally killing himself

One twin or clone(whichever theory) wasnt obsessed tho(I believe he was the original one. He wanted to settle down, he had a daughter and was chill. The other one was the one that broke that ladies hand during the birdcage trick , he was also the one that tied that knot a different way and got Anton wife killed and the one who couldn't stay away from going to the great Anton show and ended up getting hung for his murder.

The other brother was the one who got shot, the one who was really married and really believe the lil girl to be his daughter.

I buy into the theory that they weren't brother but they were clones.

Cause think back to the scene when the twin was talking to the fake "great Anton actor dude" and he said something like "once I had a double and he became uncontrollable, and ended up taking over" i pretty much took that as him saying once he clone himself the clone couldn't be controlled and became obsessed with everything.

nolan always does this.... creates a film that you can watch once, start talking to people about the theories, then you question your own damn theory, and have to watch it 25 more times

Whoa... I can understand The Prestige is top tier, but Memento was not remotely garbage.

I can respect that. Some movies people just don't like.

Mememto to me was the film that automatically made me a Nolan fan and The Prestige was the movie that made him my favorite director.
