Here is one glaring issue I have with this movie and it’s with most action movies actually: focusing on the boring white guy instead of the easily more interesting characters around him. McKenna is cool and I loved Boyd in Logan. But he’s the least interesting person in the movie. This idea we have to focus our movies around these boring white guys needs to change and change quickly.
I think they do it to give the movie mass appeal. This way fans can project themselves onto the role. Just my guess.

Yeah I agree. Said that in my follow up post to @Monoblock

I get it but that shyt is getting tired. They’ve done that for probably 18 years now. As much as I love the the matrix, neo is the perfect example of that and even the movie acknowledges that

just a nit pick but olivia munn wasn't as much as a femme fatale to me as ppl keep saying,
Yvonne Strahovski was sexier to me even though they TRIED to make her look homely

The white people in the audience need to feel warm and fuzzy but most of all they need to know that they are the most important people in the movie and the least expendable. :francis:

But the boring white guy is often surrounded by less boring white guys too :russ:

You couldve made this movie about any one of the loonies and it would’ve been more interesting, even the white ones. Like I said it’s a trend that’s been around for probably 20 plus years now. The larger than life types went out of fashion and everyone went with the non descriptive types which is fine but they’re boring chraracters.

Neo is an actual blank slate who gets traits imprinted on him. There’s nothing remotely interesting about him. Compare that to John wick who has a lot of interesting shyt going on with him

Be that as it may, when it's all white it's all right.

I remember in the fear the walking dead thread a couple years ago, I haven't watched the show since last year but the show was taking place in Mexico for the entire season it seemed, and someone posts that they can't wait to see some WHITE PEOPLE again because 7,8 episodes without the great white hope was unbearable I am guessing. :stopitslime:

Conditioning.

Haven't seen Predator yet, I've been wanting to but I lost all urge to see it. What you rate it?

Like it don’t love it. The third act is a big ole mess for me and when shyt starts falling a part but before that it’s perfectly in line as an 80s/90s action flick and as a satire of them as well. I don’t know what that rating would be for real but I really liked the first two acts and the last third bought it down in my book. Gotta stick the landing and they didn’t do that.

Also was surprised how 80s and 90s it is in an era where we’re a bit more “civilized” and woke as the kids say

Why do you think the 3rd act was so bad? Studio fault, Shane? Script?

The third act is the one they had to reshoot after the test screenings. I have no idea what was in the original script he and Fred decker did but I’ve read it’s way different than the final version. So that was probably rushed rewrites to hit a release date and he and the studio coming up with the best solution they could in a short amount of time. And I’m sure once the third act changed they had to go through and cut out stuff that wouldn’t have been resolved so the movie overall suffers
