I might throw it on ebay if psvr2 is this boring
They're doing the world building, I mentioned that it really didn't grab and pull me in like other shows I've watched. But it's still intriguing enough for me to continue to watch to see where they take things.

Just turned on episode 1, how come you brehs didn't tell me about this? :wow:

Just saw the first episode ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ”ฅ

:lupe:

I would recommend doing a rewatch of episode 1 after about episode 5 or so.

When I first watched the pilot, I didn't think it was that great and most of what happened didn't make much sense to me. But after you understand the "universe", going back and rewatching the pilot made it MUCH better.

The first time I watched the first episode, I somehow TOTALLY missed that
Alita used that machine in the basement to download a bunch of stuff into Flynne's brain.

Having advanced detective in this future makes sense. You got androids doing menial labor, low population, AI enhancing baseline intelligence, makes sense your humans that are left either not working (rich ppl like the dude banrolling this whole op) or doing highly specialized tasks.

It was kind of interesting that the future police were so advanced and intimidating, but they had to have the "stub"/"Imperialism" technology explained to them.

I read it more like them trying to get rich dude to lay out his thinking. Why call it a stub? To make what they want to do more palatable etc, which tells you a lot about the kinda person they're investigating.

If y'all are watching Andor, how do you think this series compares with that.

Cause Andor seems to be on that slow burn steez. This seems to be doing that as well.

On ep 6.

The whole concept of the military recruiting friends who already had a connection and putting them into a combat unit is kinda genius. Obviously in real life, the unit cohesion is manufactured and built but if we were ever in a war situation and needed more bodies in the military quickly, this idea would probably work.

Andor is the best show on TV right now imo. Different kind of shows though.

Unlike Andor, this show will sometimes have action scenes JUST for the sake of having an action scene.
E.g. Did they REALLY need to get into a knife fight in the butcher shop ?

So, I don't think that Peripheral respects the audience's patience for the 'slow burn' as much as Andor does.

I think he was referring to the fact that LOTS of people are going to die within the next couple of decades.
I don't want spoilers, but they've already hinted at multiple different catastrophes
-They mentioned that snow hasn't fallen in years, so there's probably been extreme global warming
-The adoption agency mentioned that Wilf and Alita were fully immunized, so obviously there was a super pandemic
-The giant statues were referred to as "air scrubbers", so there's something bad in the air. I'm wondering if its the pandemic, or some kind of aerosolized 'gray goo'.
-They also mentioned that bees went extinct, were brought back, then went extinct again before being brought back again

I didn't pick up on any mention of nuclear war, but that also wouldn't surprise me

I don't want spoilers either as this is my first time watching this and I never read the books... but im wondering if Flynn is patient zero due to them taking that spinal tap from her. The doc said there was something in her blood.

Episode 6 felt like a stop gap to the eventual fukkery that happens to wrap things up in the season. The EP ended and my wife and I were like... That's it?
