One thing they can dead is the romance they seem to be hinting at with Wilf and Flynn. Maybe it's just me, but I'm not seeing a ton of chemistry with them and Chloe still looks very young to me and the actor who plays Wilf looks more mature.

Also Jasper in the finale :skip:

All the chemistry is them touching. But I need to see the verbals to be sold on it. Moreover, she's essentially a roomba in his timeline.

In Dallas, From Cleveland
I’m pretty convinced they had 10 episodes ready and were told to trim it to 8 because these last 3 episodes been kind of all over the place and not nearly as smooth as like the first 4. I feel like I get the gist of what they are getting at but the finale felt a bit rushed. Like they basically just phased Burton out the finale and I’m just not sure how things look going forward like what happens to the old south timeline now that Flynn time there has ended? Either way I hope they get greenlit for a season 2 because I like the premise and the feel of the show and hoping they can work out some of the kinks like some of the mid action scenes

No Whammies!!
London - real time, the actual time line
The South - a stub of the actual time line. Real to Flynne, but a simulation for the London people in the Future.

Russian Mobsters and Black Lady's Research Institute
- both want the stolen data. Russian's want it to make money, RI has the data, and needs to destroy the copy on GP.
- both have the "coordinates" to the stub
- both keep messing with them. Russians have control of Flynne in the London Timeline. RI sends killers to the 2032 stub.

The plan - overall, Blondie made a "save point".
- Go back to London
- Get info from TransLady
- Find the place where they make the stub.
- Split the 2032 stub into 2032 A and 2032 B, at some time unknown to anyone. Her save point.
- Break the watch and that erases the tracks.

Also 2032 A and 2032 B Blondie
- both have the data from the eye laser thing from episode 1
- both know the plan

Then Flynne goes back to Stub A - the one that everyone knows about.

Stub A Flynne explains to Brothaman, he needs to shoot her.
Stub B either she stops Brothaman, or doesn't tell him in the first place. So she doesn't get shot.

Brothaman puts a bullet in her head in stub A. (her brother could not do it for obvious reasons)

2032 A Flynne gets shot in the head, data that Russians and RI can get to is gone.
Presumably, RI decides they don't need to blow the place up. (2032A)
Flynne has now saved her friends and family from a nuclear explosion in 2032A.

2032 B - Flynne - can now move freely - because
- Still Has the data
- Knows their moves
- But is no longer under control of the Mob, nor can the RI people send assassins to 2032 B - because they can't find it.

2032 B Flynn will now go after Cherise and the Research Institute.

I get the sense that the people that wrote this, were trying to come up with some sort of cool video game strategy - because that's what they had Flynne talk about in this last episode - but also to close the circle on what they set Flynne up at the beginning of the show - a really get video game/sim player.

In trying to be cool/clever, I think they created more problems than they solved. And it's hard enough to follow to begin with.

Why? These show runners did WestWorld - where it has 2 different worlds (the park and the real world), and a few different times all flowing at the same time. And people ate it up.

OK, that makes MORE sense...but I still don't totally get it.

So, from the above, the two 2032 stubs are perfect mirror images of each other, except for the fact that one has a "live" Flynne and one has a dead Flynne being mourned by her friends and family.

But BOTH the A and B stubs still have the VR headsets that are connected to the 2099 London 'parent' stub, right?
So, can Burton A and Burton B still travel to future London? If so, would they both connect to the SAME Peripheral? Who controls the peripheral then?

Flynne B's assumption would be that she can still connect to the London peripheral, but 'they' can't connect to her world because somehow they can't find it. But how could she even control a peripheral remotely if there is no two-way communication between 2099 and Stub B?

Actually, just thought of another problem:
When Flynne goes "home", aren't mirror images of herself appearing simultaneously in stub A and stub B? If, at that exact moment, both stubs are identical (pre shooting), then how does any one of the two Flynnes know that SHE is the one that is supposed to get shot? Its even MORE confusing than The Prestige because I can't think of a way that each copy would be able to tell themselves apart from the other.

I don't have the answers.

Burton A + B going back to the future - I think that's definitely a possibility. I don't think that destroys her plan at all, and it might be an interesting wrinkle to resolve for next season. Team A and B working together to get a RI.

As for Flynne B being "untouchable" by 2099 - The idea they're presenting is that RI and Russians can't trace her back to 2032 B when she shows up.

Given everything we've seen about AI, I just find that hard to believe TBH.

As far as both of them knowing - she comes up with the plan - in unsplit 2032 - so when 2032 splits - A&B both know what's going to happen.

How does B not get killed? It's not clear to me that they wrote the solution tightly enough to foreclose that opportunity. It's not like there's a "jump" in personality. (unless of course Conor in timeline B is spoken to by an unseen 3rd party that's not Flynne about the plan)

This part of the show reminds me too much of Tenet. Time Travel/Multiverse stories are generally impossible to write because of the time travel paradox.

The way to write this, imo. Is that they've established that they can send information to a stub and get information back. A 2 way street is all that is needed for the branched timeline to hurt the "main" timeline.

Ex. The Russians test various cures to whatever 2099 disease is popping off - and bring back a cure. Well then just intercept the communication (either in the stub or in the main timeline) and send back a fake cure. But that would be way too Hollywood for these folks.

I don't recall the book going this direction, but it's been so long since I read (or cared about) the book to begin with. I've said this before, but the 1st 3 episodes of this show turned a sow's ear into a silk purse.

I’ve enjoyed this show a lot but that finale is not what I was expecting. Ummm…
So Connor killed Flynne in the Peripheral in order to join a new stem. Did Connor Kill himself too? Is Burton left in “the real world” by himself?
There are a lot of unanswered questions. I’m guessing they did that so they could get the greenlight for a Season 2. I thought Wilf and Flynne had great chemistry and I hope they explore that more next season.

:francis:btwn Everything, everywhere all at once and this show I give up. I've been working on a story for a few years and its story is dead ass a mix btwn these two.... almost 50/50. Imma have to rework the shyt, again.

So did ole girl clone then "untether" herself from her stub? Like she's free to hop into any stub on the quantum network? I don't remember them mentioning that was even possible. When Connor mentioned wanting to do something similar, they damn near said it wasn't possible

I'm totally confused right now as I just finished the finale and I definitely ain't got the answers, Sway, and I love reading yalls theories...

But I do believe there's something that y'all haven't considered in your theories, which is the fact that stub b is gonna be totally different from stub a due to the future folks never having played around in this stub.

I get that yall think it's a mirror of stub a but I really don't think it is. I think it's gonna be completely different, Flynn is gonna be with the sheriff dude, the brotha is still gonna have his limbs and her brother is gonna be dead.

Meaning, we will probably see some folks who got deaded in stub a in stub b.

I think this show will be Flash-esque moving forward in the sense of like how there's different versions of Harrison Wells, there's gonna be different versions of characters that we've already seen in the next season.

Other than that, I dont understand what the hell happened in the finale and I'm okay with this.

This will probably wind up being one of those shows where s1 lays the groundwork but the next season builds on it a la' The Expanse or other similar shows.

I would say check out this recap, does a good job in breaking down the episode

This episode was a sloppy mess and hurt what could have been an excellent season.
where was Burton this episode? Where was Lev? We spend a bunch of minutes on a Jasper storyline in the 11th hour. The solution at the end felt like it undid all the stakes built up during the first seven episodes. The episode felt tonally off and cartoonish.

I agree, the Jasper stuff was weird and another weird editing decision for the finale. I think that became my biggest issue in the later episodes was the pacing and editing. Spending so much time on that Bob stuff wasn't really needed and that lil post credit scene with Liv wasn't really that insightful. It makes me feel like Amazon was like if you can make this 8 episodes we'll make sure you get a season 2 because there is no way they would make the finale so unresolved and feel good about getting a season 2

The 2032 stub got divided in half. So, there are still 2 Connors, 2 Burtons etc.

That would only be true if they created a new stub that diverged further in the past, not in 2032. But we know that's not true. How do we know this? Because the reason "FlynnA" and "FlynnB" each know the plot is because the divergence happened AFTER the original 2032 Flynne came up with her plot. The two stubs were identical up until the middle of the last episode.

This episode was a sloppy mess and hurt what could have been an excellent season.

I wouldn't be so harsh...but I kind of agree. It wasn't really a great season finale, and it left a lot that they are going to need to clean up when the new season starts.

I wouldn't lie i had no idea what the fukk was happening with that "twist" they tried to pull off :pachaha:

Which is unfortunate bc up until the Final i thought the show was pretty smooth to follow despite the heavy sci-fi themes

I had to come to this thread, read this post:

London - real time, the actual time line
The South - a stub of the actual time line. Real to Flynne, but a simulation for the London people in the Future.

and go ":ohhh: that's what the fukk happened!"

The same way they explained the jackpot with the brilliant visuals, they probably needed to illustrated that 2032A and B stuff :mjlol:, or reveal it more organically than how they did.

Still was a very good and fun show that i'll be anticipating a season 2, but i wish they'd have stuck the landing better and had a better cliffhanger for Flynne. The stinger at the end was dope tho
