In most states the age of consent is 16. Hell, in Canada the age of consent was 14 until a couple years ago. It's got everything to do with the US' puritanical origins.

My daughters mother doesn't have an issue with high schoolers dating older men, but "within reason" though she won't explain what that means. Her take is if our 16 year old daughter wanted to date a 26 year old man, we could lose her if we forbid it, like how those R Kelly chicks stopped communicating with their families for years...

So she says we should find productive ways to allow that kind of relationship...

For the record I think this is the same with women, works if the shoe is reversed to me...

If you’re 16 year old daughter feels comfortable dating a 26 year old then you failed as a parent and your child’s mother sounds like a bird with that explanation.

I think once a person is 18 or over they can date whom ever they see fit.
I may not agree with a 18 year old dating a 60 year old but it is certainly their business

Under 18 year olds only need to be dating other under 18 year olds or a 2 year gap etc
