These new games that are dropping got me a little worried (Watch Dogs, Shadows of Mordor). Thinking I might make some upgrades this year.

My current setup.

Intel i5-3570K
CORSAIR Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB)
Crucial M4 128 GB SSD
Gigabyte GTX 670 2 GB

Think i'll still be able to run most of these new games on high settings?

It's hard to believe that a 5850 is still a good card. I used to have a 5870 back in the day. PC gaming :banderas:

Anyone ever remotely play their PC games over the internet?? I've been trying to use a program on a android tablet called Splashtop but it seems finicky. At home one version called "Splashtop THD" (The T is for tegra supported tablets) is supposed to be great but that one is laggy as fukk but then the regular version splashtop personal works good but outside it's pretty laggy. shyt boggles me. I play remotely my ps4 from work with the vita but then this powerful tablet is struggling on the same connection? I suspect the app is the cause.

I fall right in line with the recommended settings except I have a dual core processor(fx4100). I'm riding it out.

Oh and you can get Watchdogs for $25 right now.

I don't have the technical know how to explain why I think it makes sense, but it does to me. I use Spashtop to access my computer from my ipad when I'm out of town and gotta do homework or something. Works pretty well enough. I feel that games would give it a fukking work out though. Plus the Vita and PS4 are like perfectly optimized for that shyt, right?

I haven't tried it outside of my work wifi which is pretty crap. I was using my cousins tablet, he has an Asus transformer with a tegra 4 built in so that one is optimized for Splashtop THD but it has worse latency and lag than the regular version which is weird.

"This morning, AMD unveiled its latest flagship graphics board: the $1,500, liquid-cooled, dual-GPU Radeon R9 295X2. With a pair of Hawaii GPUs that power the company's top-end single-GPU Radeon R9 290X, the new board is sure to make waves at price points that Nvidia currently dominates. In gaming benchmarks, the R9 295X2 performs pretty much in line with a pair of R9 290X cards in CrossFire. However, the R9 295X2 uses specially-binned GPUs which enable the card to run with less power than a duo of the single-GPU cards. Plus, thanks to the closed-loop liquid cooler, the R9 295X doesn't succumb to the nasty throttling issues present on the R9 290X, nor its noisy solution."

Maingear is pairing the 295x2 with 860w? :wtf:

https://www.maingear.com/boutique/pc/configurePrd.asp?idproduct=1998

Is this even feasible?

Or is my PSU knowledge just :trash:?

Edit: answered my own question. Maingear is fukking up most likely

From the article...

One power supply company that we spoke to about this card, said that they have seen a Radeon R9 295X2 pull as much as 14A on a single wire on the PCIe power cable when checked with a clamp meter. They’ve also seen temperatures of the modular connector at the PSU housing being as high as 90°C at full load.

What in the blue fukk at the bolded :mindblown:...

Will need to look at some performance metrics on these cards :mindblown:

AMD's cards always run hot...I had a rig of some 7770's about a year and half ago and it was just impossible to keep them from getting to the low 80's under full load...

That is some serious power and heat being generated just for a gpu...i don't think i want to invest the time in making sure my airflow is impeccable just to get a card like this

The card is starting to look less and less attractive. Plus you can get 3 780s for the same price basically.
