5 years would be like someone right now still rocking a 200 series gtx card. it can be done, but I don't like to encourage people to think they'll be able to 'future proof' regardless of the money they spend

To be fair, I'm pushing my card to an extreme most wouldn't, but still.... This alleged 10gb 790 better last at least 2 or more years, if I get it

some of those older cards might be able to get by on pure horsepower, but they'll be very inefficient (power and heat), and they'll be missing newer bells and whistles (dx11, shadowplay, etc)

Nah, just 3 1080ps, but that's 3x what a normal gamer would typically do. I mean I'm still running on ultra, but I get dips into the low 40s sometimes. Not acceptable to me, but it's that 3 monitor compromise. That 790 would alleviate those problems though if it actually exists
