Yo, I'll take whatever scraps you got and most def put it to good use. I've been without my PC for a couple of months now. Went through hell having it diagnosed. Now it's sitting on my living room floor until I have the time/money to get it up and running again.

What’s wrong with it?

Was going to slowly upgrade my little shyt box, but ended up getting carried away and ordered everything I need to build a new one. Nothing new, or crazy, just a slight upgrade to intel 14th gen and and trying an rx6800

Ended up returning the rx 6800 because I came up on a merc rx 7800 xt 16GB for $160more. It took forever to get my msi “barebone” kit (Case w/ PSU and motherboard installed.

My box came through fedex and was delivered with the top flaps completely cut open. I was already like:
:beli::damn: :mjcry::lupe:

It ended up being undamaged. The only issue was the I/O plate was seated weird so I had to remove the motherboard anyway to align it correctly and bend the little tabs inward. I haven’t cabled a computer in a long ass time and the instructions were trash. So I just stared at it for a couple of days until it made sense.

Grabbed a cheap ryzen 5 8400f as a cpu with plans to upgrade later. Thought I was gonna get away clean on parts but after researching the B650-a I realized I was gonna have to be real specific with my ram and SSD’s. Picked up some TeamGroup expert 6400’s DDR5 64GB (2x32). I also picked up two Samsung 990 pro m2 nvme gen 4 SSD’s (a 2tb and a 1tb) because there’s two M2 SSD slots on the motherboard. I may add a third Sata SSD in the future. I also said fukk it and upgraded my two old ass 1080p 17” monitors into a single acer 34” ultrawide curved monitor (180hz). I plan on sticking to 3440x1440 gaming and productivity for now.

Put all the bullshyt and cooler on the motherboard and figured the rest out along the way. Finished it all up only to find out it wouldn’t completely boot or send a signal to the monitor. I found an old ass jump drive to format and update the bios. Tried several times until google showed me that I had to use a specific usb port to flash bios.

Used my old computer to make a bootable copy of Windows 11pro, used the g*th*b powershell/mas method to get it permanently for free.

It worked and runs beautifully. I did the same for free ms office. It boots almost instantly, is quiet, runs cool af. I was messing around with some of my steam library and everything auto configures to “ultra” settings with 60+ fps (I’m one of those people that are happy with 30fps). I even fukked around and got “Total War: Pharaoh Dynasties” for cheap off g2a. I used mods to run extra big army test battles and it was smooth with no issues.

Will probably download Indiana Jones this weekend, now that Christmas is over, and I can sneak away to hide from my girl and daughter again.

Randomly froze up on me last summer. Wouldn't boot to windows after that. Mobo light stuck on orange/amber. Brought it in to Best Buy and they told me it was probably the motherboard but they wouldn't do anything else so I bought a new mobo, same model. Took it into another place with the new mobo and told him to swap it out. He insisted he could repair the old mobo by replacing a couple of little black joints that are on the board. I was skeptical. A few days later he calls me up and tells me it's working. I get back home and it works for 3 hours and then it froze up again with same mobo orange light. Brought it back in with the new mobo and told him to just swap it out.

Fast forward a week and he texts me to come get my PC because it has a demon in it. :skip:
He said it booted up outside of the case but would not boot once mounted. I'm gonna bring it into another place this week now that I have a little cash saved up. I really miss gaming... :sadcam:

I wonder if the case itself is shorting out the cpu cooler or something on the board itself

You might have to take it on out back and tie it up to the tree smh

Have you already tested other Ram? Likes under the cpu, popped out the cmos battery and updated bios and all that?

I w ok see if it’s the case, cables, or the psu itself. Did the motherboard have enough standoff from the case?

@Orbital-Fetus And was it a prebuilt?
I built it myself. It was working just fine for almost 4 years without a problem. And yes, the standoffs were in place from the jump. I can't speak to the work of the dude who worked on it last but the result was the same nonetheless.

I really miss my pc and can't wait to have it back. One of the many drawbacks of not being a 6 figure breh is waiting to save up a few bucks... :sadcam:
