Crossposting from the Android thread:

Late AF, but just want to cosign VLC even more. I've been using it for years to watch videos that I downloaded to my tablet's SD card.

Recently, I've started downloading videos to my external hard drive, and then dragging them to Google Drive (where they are automatically downloaded to my tablet's SD card & deleted from the cloud thanks to AutoSync) to watch on my tablet.

It was starting to get a bit tedious, especially w/ my slow upload speeds but then I remembered hearing about the ability to stream content on VLC over the LAN.

This weekend I download more videos to my external hard drive, but instead of uploading them to Google Drive, I just connected my VLC app to my desktop and streamed directly from the external hard drive to my tablet. No downloading/uploading and no internet usage either:banderas:

This build seems right up my alley for the RDR2 and GTAV type games I want to play. I’m not well-versed in this stuff, but how future proof would you say these specs are (not looking to have to upgrade in the near future)?

shyt will be good for years man.. That setup is overkill for now and will be great years to come

How does a 3060 Ti compare?
3060Ti is a lil better than a Series X. If u lookin at a real jump from consoles i wouldnt bother with that one unless u dont game on console at all n just wanna use the other benefits of pc.

3080s kinda the sweet spot between performance n cost. It’ll be a lot better than the 3060Ti.

3080Ti is overkill for now n only for people like me that couldnt find a 3080:mjcry:

3090 wont be as worth the cost for just gamin till games eat up more v ram n a few years. Right now its gonna run shyt similar to a 3080 for current shyt.

The 3060ti is way better than a X Box Series X, and the 3080 is only marginally better than the 3060ti what are you smoking

The 3060 can play Forza 5 in 60fps in 4k the series X can't, and the 3060ti is a significant improvement over the 3060

also the raised the prices of the 3080 in retail unless you get the founders edition, so it's no longer a good deal, the 3060ti is the best card for gaming at the moment price to performance wise and it's not even close

I'm talking about now, the MSRP is higher now retail, at 700 dollars 3080 was a good, the ASUS TUF 3080 was 740 now its over 1000, it's not good buy now for 30 frames more than the 3060ti, you're an idiot you pay over a grand for 3080 for performance you can barely notice if you turned off the msi afterburner

The 4080 will be 1400 and be able to run any game 4k 120hz solid, and its going to be double the performance of the 3080 and its coming out in september

good luck finding a founders edition card now, and those cards run so hot, no point of buying them anyway

Can't be sure about the price, but the specs leak for the 3080 were correct and so the leaked ones for the 4080 are likely the same,

The 3080 specs pretty much was double the power of the 2080ti, which saw 20/30 percent increase in performance in 4k

The 4080 specs pretty much doubled in every era like the 3080 doubled the 2080ti, so it's easy to expect another 20/30 increase in performance since this are all RTX cards which the 2080ti was the first one

3080 order averages 70-95 frames per second in the most demanding games at max settings, which is pretty good performance, so just based on the raw numbers and what history as shown under the most heavy load and demanding games the 4080's low will be 86 frames at max settings compared to the 70 of the 3080, which will be games that aren't even released yet but will be later on in the generation, and on the high end you will see the same percentage increase which would be 120 which is a 30 percentage increase from 95 fps

30 frames more

The 2080 ti was $1200... The 3080 was priced too low. The 3080 should have been released at $1200..

The 4080 will never sell at $1400.. Unless there's technology to block coin farming the 4080 will be $2000...

The 3060ti is $600 now..:mjlol:

got my 1070 ti a couple of years ago right before the chip and GPU shortage. :whew:

it's a damn good card and handles whatever i throw at it.
put my old 970 FTW+ in a build in the living room and that card is still doing it's thing. :birdman:

i got real lucky that my pc broke down when it did.
if it happened a few months later i would have been fukked.

I got my 2070 Super when my 980ti died. I wasn't really ready for a new GPU at the time, but in retrospect I'm glad it happened when it did

Yeah there are plenty of good GPUs that aren’t 3080 or 3090s. I’d take a 2060 super and up over a console

Did you even watch the video the games are 30 frames apart on average between the 3060ti and the 3080, even less on demanding games like watch dogs legion, 3060ti was 36 frames in 4k the 3080 was 54 hardly worth twice the price especially when you can just lower the settings, also the video is old before the driver updates and those games are old

Forza 5 the 3080 does 75 frames on max in 4k, the 3080ti 85, and the 3060 not even the TI can do 55, that's a huge chump for the price of those cards

The 2080ti was 999 when it was released, the msrp was raised to 1200 afterwards, the 3080 shouldn't have been 1200, the whole point of the 30 series was the price, the 700 dollars is what made it a big deal

The 3060ti is 600 is still a better deal that 1400 for a 3080, the the 3060ti came out at the same time as 3080, it would be a no brainer to get a 3060ti, at 700 dollars and the 3080 being the only 30 series card of course it was the best deal

Even at 2000 the 4080 is a better deal than the 3080 because it can actually game at 4k 120hz, if you already had a 2080ti there was no reason to even buy a 3080 because it was on 23 percent performance difference, the 4080 will be 50 percent boost from the 2080ti, now if you have an OLED like me, you can actually use it

3080 can do 120fps in 4k max settings on racing games and that's old ones not new ones like Forza 5

Next year the 3080 will be struggling with new tier games to just do 60fps in 4k at on max

Man shut the fukk up. 3080 is the sweet spot. Some games have 75 more fps at 1440p. Nobody playing multiplayer in 4k nikka.. Pros play in 1080p @240fps.. Regular nikkaz playing 1440p @144fps-190fps.. 4k you're gonna need dlss to hit a good fps.

3060ti is simply for people who can't afford a 3080

Talking about 1440p and the 3080 in the same sentence proves my point, that's why you mad, you probably paid 1200 for your 3080, or more, if you payed 700 you would have nothing to be upset about it, at the 700 MSRP the 3080 was the sweet spot, even 840 for an AIB it was a great deal and this
now it isn't, it's not worth over 1000 dollars

113 fps and 173 fps at 1440p is not noticeable difference when you are playing, you wouldn't even notice unless MSI afterburner was turned on

the 3060ti is basically a 2080ti, you can get the EVGA version for 500 they didn't raise their prices like ASUS and MSI, that's a 2080ti for 500 dollars lmao, you can't be serious

I brought 3080 3 times and sold them because the price kept getting ridiculous and couldn't resist, I can deal with the slight performance hit and wait for the 40 series, nothing really big is even coming out this year anyway that you can't play on anyone of those 30 series card with good performance
