Brehs I done hit the holy grail of master race fukkery :mjcry:

Flashed my bios...pc rebooted...checked it and it still showed as having the original bios:gucci:

Flashed it again...pc got stuck in an infinite boot...:mindblown:

Come to find out that the bios being at the original firmware level after I flashed it was because it was the backup bios...it is a dual bios board...and when i flashed it the second time it fukked up the backup bios to :damn:

Read through the manual and they actually have a way to flash it if both bios go bad:baldhuh:...did it and it worked:blessed:

Got ANOTHER infinite boot loop...error code 32...which means the cpu can't initialize the memory :baldhuh:

Memory had been working fine though...so I took it off and put some memory from my vmware test lab in it and it worked...tested the original memory from my gaming rig in my testlab rig and it wouldn't even post :gucci:

So on top of two failed bios updates... I HAD 4 8GB MEMORY STICKS JUST SUDDENLY GO BAD:gucci:

At least I can RMA the memory...sending it back tomorrow...

Now one of the fans is spinning at about 3000 rpm all the time:francis:...i can control it through the motherboard and set it for something lower but it didn't happen when I was on the old bios :francis:

This was some @Ciggavelli levels of pc problems though...took me about 6 hours to figure all this shyt out and I still got to look at that fan cause it spinning that hard all the time is the first signs of a cpu cooler going out...:francis:

:damn:

This shyt reminds me of the terrible, terrible problems I had with my rig when I was living in Chicago. Everything was fukking up. Fans, ram, hdds, GPUs...ahhhh :damn:

And then I moved to Houston and immediately had 2 Titan Xs fail on me at the same time. :snoop:

Right now I have a ram problem, I think. After reading your shyt, and remembering how fukked up my shyt was in the past, I guess I should feel somewhat lucky that ram is my only problem :whew:

I feel for you, breh. Good luck

Yeah...so I found out those old sticks of memory probably aren't bad, they are "R-DIMM" memory...and as of the version of bios I have now, my motherboard doesn't support r-dimm memory...and my test lab boards never supported r dimm memory...

I am already doing an rma so I just hope they don't catch it...actually i am just going to call them in the morning and tell them cause if i send it back and it work they going to be like :francis: no rma...

They really got me outchea reading memory comparability list for two hours straight...

And I am just doing some cheap non ecc 8 gig stick memory...i have never really seen high end memory or memory over clocking make a difference...but pretty much any memory other than the ones i am looking at....4 8 gig sticks STARTS at 400 dollars :gucci:

The number one recommended memory for my board is this 3333 corsiar memory and 4 8gb sticks cause 567 dollars :gucci:

Also going forward I got to make sure my motherboard has either q flash plus or no crash update cause that is the only thing that saved my board...

But...it says a lot about gigabyte that they make a board with two bios AND a way to recover a double bios fail...it's almost like they know the shyt could fail...

Nah, bought it from amazon to use it in Africa. That computer won't be going back to the US anytime soon, so a warranty is damn near useless. :francis:
Dell/Alienware has great worldwide coverage. Hit them up quick and ask what can be done.

Looks like directly a motherboard issue, what motherboard is it. I have these sort of problems on my software related servers too from time to time but those usually involved everything from ddr3/ddr2 ages not ddr4 (even though I've had 2 rma for memory g skillz). You'd be surprised gigabyte has either been a great product for me like my 1151, amd older gens but newer gens X370 Ram wasn't faulty, the ram slot went bad, X399 Gigabyte don't even get me started I had to return 3 motherboards until microcenter gave me my money back to buy the zenith board:scust:

Strictly only buying asus and asrock boards from now on.

Also yeah you can't use ECC memory on a regular pc breh, you can with ryzen but you have to deal with configuring it

What your VMware built looking like using it for home center or work. I use ryzen 7 1700 and xeon e5. What is your motherboard, no motherboard recommends 3333 maybe that's the best option but you won't notice a difference with 3000/3200mhz

Mechanical keyboards

I've always used cherry red for gaming. blues/green programming (at home), used to use browns for the office

Want to know if anyone uses cherry mx-speed silver and recommend it over red?
What mechanical keyboards do you guys use? :lupe:

so the problem with the gaming pc is that before the bios update it supported r-dimm memory...the bios i updated it to that had the latest cpu microcode for the spectre / meltdown vulnerabilities doesn't support r-dimm memory...so in essence i flashed to a bios, where the bios didn't support the memory, and that is what caused it to crap out the first two times it failed...i had no idea what i had was r dimm memory until i looked up the serial number after I tested it in my vmware lab pc's and they wouldn't even post with it...

So there is actually nothing wrong with that memory...i eventually put it in my wifes first gaming rig from about 2 years ago and it worked fine...but it is the only pc i have that it would work in...i told crucial and they said they were aware of the problem where this happens and they are just going to send me some ddr 4 2800 memory....

The motherboard is gigabyte X299 AORUS Gaming 7 rev 1.0...it supports up to 128 GB of ram so when i retire it as a gaming pc in a few years i am going to use it as another vmware lab since i run it nested within workstation so ram is my largest bottleneck...i had this in mind when i bought it for gaming on a 4k rig that one day i could use it as a virtualization testlab...

My test labs are nothing major...two desktops with ASUS ROG STRIX Z270E...both with an 850 evo ssd as the application drive and 3 western digital 2 tb drives for storage space to serve up to virtual center for the vm's...both have and support 64 gb of memory, which at the time i put the labs together...gave me the most bang for my buck...although we do have a room in my house that we were going to use that we are now not going to use...so i might turn it into a server room. and get some real servers instead of some high end desktops and virtualizing everything within vmware workstation

As far as gigabyte goes I only ever had one other gigabyte board and it was fine...this board ran like a champ before i flashed it...and now that i fixed it, it only has the problem of the fan on my cpu cooler randomly revving up every few hours...and actually it hasn't done it and a very long time today...which might be a sign of the cooler going out, or their might be some fan setting that I once set...after the bios update I set everything back to default settings so I don't even remember if I did anything type of fan control with that fan to keep it from being so loud...temps aren't suffering from it...under full gpu and full cpu load nothing goes over 61 degrees...BUT...I have a fractal define R5 case and this thing is like the GOAT air flow case...

Awesome yeah I use preowned - Dell 720, 710's for homelab (server - none built)

I just paid like 700 for my 1080 like two months ago:sadcam: you mean to tell me all I had to do was wait 60 days:mindblown:
Put that 1080 up for sale right this minute. You might be able to find a buyer who isn’t aware the new cards are coming out soon. You could get lucky. But yeah, put it up for sale ASAP
