Sub $250 is tough.

I think @MMA Mo is right, a used monitor is the way to go. Monitors lose value so quickly, so you should be able to find a 1440p/144hz around that price. With your setup, 4K doesn't make sense, and 60hz are boring nowadays. I did a little searching on Amazon, and there isn't much out there that is good, new, at $250.

In general, I like Acer and Asus IPS monitors the best. I used to be all into Dell monitors, but their budget models use TN panels, which I hate. I actually still have a Dell Ultrawide 1440p and a Dell 5K that I can't seem to sell. I'd offer to sell you one of those monitors, but to be honest, you want 144hz and those monitors are 60hz.

I think you'll probably end up with a 24" g-sync. I don't like to go that small, myself, but if you're used to it, then it wouldn't be a problem.

Great advice, and if he buys use, he can sell it for the same or close to what he bought it for.

List it online just tell them you want it to be locally bought, shipping cost is a bytch :whoo:

Wish I was close I'd take that 5K monitor without hesitation

@NotoriousJerry

Yeah I copped a new monitor for ~$200 a few months ago, definitely had to make some compromises but I got the two features I wanted most, free sync and 144hz.

The trade off is that it's only 1080p and a TN panel, the first I don't mind because I have an RX480. I'd rather have 144fps with average/low settings than 60fps (even less with some titles) and ultra/close to ultra settings. TN panels I believe have lower response times than IPS panels too, I play a lot of Overwatch so that's nice.

The TN panel I will admit is pretty trash, I've got it looking decent with a color profile/monitor settings but it's nowhere near my old IPS joint. You do get used to it though.

But it's just personal preference. You're going to have to sacrifice something while dealing in that price range. If I could do it over again I would probably just save until I could afford something nicer, but you can always sell your monitor when you upgrade again.

Here's the monitor in question: link

Anybody got an i9 and gaming with it? Just curious what its like
I have an i9 7900x. It's 10 cores, 20 logical threads. It boosts to 4.2ghz per core, out of the box. I haven't even overclocked it either, as there is basically no point. You don't need 10 cores to game though. I bought it because it was the cheapest intel CPU that would support gen3 16/16 pcie lanes. I use 2 gpus, so I needed that (the current gen nvidia cards work better with 16/16). If I had only one card, I would have got a 8700k.

GTX 950 ftw , that 2GB in RAM fukking me up.... copped back in 2016

EVGA GeForce GTX 950 FTW GAMING ACX 2.0
Simple trick, you buy the medium high end card (today gen is 1070) or the card right below it 1060 6gb. It'll last 2 generations (2-3 years), replace you lose maybe 30% of what you originally paid.

Upgrade cpu or system when you can clearly see a leap difference like if you had the 2700K, it was only really worth a upgrade with the 8700K

I keep getting a driver-related bsod, due to netio.sys. I did the typical googles briefly, but not much luck and some conflicting solutions. Before I reset windows, does anybody know how to fix a netio.sys problem?

Yea bro I had that same issue before its not a hard fix, uninstall that NVIDIA Network Access Manager program. I use Revo uninstaller, after that restart the computer check Device Manager and look for Microsoft Teredo Tunneling Adapter which is should be disabled.

When did it occur? What were you doing when it occured? in the bsod did you see DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL, what error is showing up

Suggest you do a memory diagnostic, remove all attached devices, take out 1 ram out at a time and see what the results are

If not reset your windows but make sure to click keep files option

:ohhh: I've never had an issue with Nvidia software in this sense. Last time it occurred to me it was my ram
