I uninstalled/installed the software several times and it says that the mouse's driver is up to date on the device manager.
Oh okay, just checking. I used to rock Logitech mouses, but they're not what they used to be. I'm not really sure how to fix this problem, but you can make it so that when you start up your computer, the program will run automatically (effectively side-stepping the bullshyt).

If all you are doing is scanning data then you need to make it as cheap as possible...which means you need to just buy a large tower and a mother board with a as many sata ports as possible... fill it up with hard drives and go uber cheap on everything else.

Something like an Full Tower Fractal F5 and a motherboard like a Asus Z370. Plenty of space and 6 Sata ports.

Now if you REALLY need "fifteen 4 bay enclosures" then you need just go ahead and get you a server type nas system. You not going to find anything close to that on the commercial market....

Forget hard drives...how much SPACE do you really need?
I thought about that, but I do want the hot swap ability as drives will be coming in and out. Downtime + having to physically remove drives often sounds like too much of a pain in the ass for me. I have no issues paying a small premium for the enclosures, but I had no idea they were this much for something that seems decent.

This mediasonic I think has been the best bet so far. Fan is a little louder than I would like, but whatever.

Right now I am at 200TB, but the plan is to eventually scale up to 500TB+ if demand scales like I think it will.

I always have Logitech and I can never pinpoint why some ppl require admin launching and some don't. I've never had that problem personally so I can never help.

@The War Report Just configure and save, then you don't have to leave it running, provided your mouse has onboard memory.

My guess is that his windows settings are configured for the admin flag. Should be a relatively easy fix. I love my Logitech G502 and G600MMO :wow:

At the 100 of TB mark you talking about 10 or more disk so you really just need to get you something like a hp storage works server or a supermicro storage server... Those things go for around 2500 and up but they are hot swappable...

Those small personal NAS systems that hold 3 and 4 disk aren't designed to hold what you need and do what you need...best to just build out an actual storage server and rack it or set it somewhere...

Unless you need to actually carry them somewhere...then yeah the mediasonic is going to be your best bet.

You will want to look at reviews over it though...some of those personal NAS systems come with software that will keep you from accessing the disk with other applications.

I bought one years ago and then when I was trying to build some datastores for my virtual test lab freenas would just never recognize the disk and it came down to the nas system i had, had some application you used to manage the disk. As soon as I took them out and just put them in a tower everything worked. Pretty much gave up on NAS systems after that...although I have a lot of cases laying around that I just recycle for different purposes when I build another PC...

You lucky dog. I'd commit questionable acts for a legit G400S.

AFAIK it doesn't have on board memory. But it's such a good mouse anyways.

Yeah it sucks about the admin stuff but the mouse is probably the best for a reason.

I got my G410 keyboard for $50 at Staples during black Friday. Getting down with the PC side can be pricey but I'll be damned if you don't get that just right feeling when you splurge on peripherals.

I want a computer (system: including monitor) for about $3,500 that can handle 4K video editing, photo editing, audio recording, and extremely light gaming for the rare times I play Star Craft, Diablo, and Half Life.
I'm heavily leaning towards "needing" final cut pro x and logic x (but I've been an Apple stan for so long that I'm not sure if the stannery is blinding me). :mjlol:

System Builder - Threadripper 1950X 3.4GHz 16-Core, GeForce GTX 1080 Ti 11GB AORUS, 750D ATX Full Tower - PCPartPicker

Don't waste your time with intel unless it's the 7940x, you are better off buying threadripper compared to x299 if you need so many cores for video editing. But honestly if you know you don't do too much video editing like for work or source of income, I'd suggest you get maybe a ryzen 7 1700x/2700x or i7 8700k. But if it is for work purpose or you know you'll heavily need to turn out videos get TR4 or x299 (7940x and above). Left enough room in your budget if you want a different case, more drives

I'd also suggest you do some research on gpu with current prices.. if you know you are not going to do any form of crazy gaming get a 1060 6gb (around 350-400 new, 280-330 used ebay), or a titan xp (1200 ish on ebay) instead of a 1080 ti for 1000 dollars plus (it's not worth it at this price)

This is really good.
Looks better than the one @Ciggavelli recommended.

I had a G400, but it started losing connection (probably my fault from dropping it a few times). it was still under warranty, so I sent it to Logitech, and they sent me back a G400s :win:
