Yeah I checked out the Mac Pro but at that price I would definitely just go with a PC with at least one (maybe 2) 1080 ti's.
I can't see spending $5,000 on a machine that doesn't absolutely crush 90% of the computers out there.
The computer is going to take a majority of my business budget and I'm fine with that.
I still have to consider the cost of a drone and a couple camera accessories (off camera flash, additional lenses, etc).
$3,500 or so for the computer is what I'm comfortable spending right now considering everything else I have to budget for.
That's why I've been looking at the Alienware Area 51 vs the 5K iMac 27".
Sidenote: I don't know if you heard but the latest Mac OS has support for external GPU's.
Yo, given your price-range, I can look into a few things for you. GImme an hour or two

@Kamikaze Revy , look at this shyt:

The best computers for video editing 2018

The Pro is on there, but they also have other good products. This should be your reference point
Yeah I've actually seen a few comparison videos of the imac pro vs the imac and with final cut pro the difference definitely does not warrant the additional cost.
What I'm impressed with is how well optimized Final Cut Pro is on the mac. I've seen much older machines run 4K editing just fine. It's not as snappy as the more recent macs, but it's definitely workable. I was reading a blog some guy did where he built a hackintosh and had a 1080 ti. He claims (and I say claims because I found it hard to believe) that while using the 1080ti final cut pro worked slower than when he used a Radeon Pro 580 via external gpu. I don't know if that is true, but I've definitely seen tons of info from different sources stating that the optimization for macs makes it so that you don't necessarily need the best GPU's out there. Might be apple stans talking crap though.

Yeah, he's bullshytting. You should never, under any circumstances, make a hackintosh with a 1080ti. shyt is beyond stupid. DOn't do that. Hackintoshes are bullshyt (I made one for myself in Chi). Nah, don't do that

I appreciate that.
Don't go nuts looking for info though unless you're absolutely bored.
I'm flip floppin like crazy on this decision and I'm not sure hard data is going to be my final deciding factor. :mjlol:
You're at a 3.5K budget? I'm bored as hell (slow work day). I'll get you the best shyt for that price. I'll be using cyberpower pc though (they're the most diverse). Gimme a bit

Supposedly he built it with a 1080 ti for the windows build but used the Radeon as an external to test final cut.
Either way I agree with you. I was skeptical about his particular story, but from what I've read, I believe there's some credibility to the claims of how well Apple has their programs optimized for their hardware.

Imma bout to get into some heavy research on your ideal "video editing" shyt. My main question is, do you care about gaming, or not? If not, the nvidia quadro cards are the best of the best.. THey suck at gaming, but are godly with content creation. It all depends on if you wanna game on this shyt or not. If not, you get the quadro cards

:russ:Don't spend too much time on it breh for real. I don't want you to come up with the monster build and I end up getting the imac anyway.
If we're just looking up stuff out of curiosity I would say right now I'm not looking at gaming on PC at all.
I wouldn't mind booting up Diablo 3, Star Craft 2, and a few others every now and then, but I definitely don't believe I would ever focus on PC gaming at this point.
I wouldn't care about hitting 4K 300 fps and all that :mjlol: (at least not in the foreseeable future)
