You have two cards that need a lot of power.Completely forgot how nvidia shadowplay is turned on by default...i turned mine off years ago when i first installed some 780's and every time geforce experience updates the option has always just been turned off...
Finished my new build today and the power consumption on both the 1080 ti's was 36.7 % even when both cards were idle :dahellwhat:
Turned off shadow play and it fixed the problem and dropped the cards temps by about 10 degrees each
Reference cards to so I thought I was about to have to @Ciggavelli both of them and be stuck in RMA hell
I would just browse through the Mac OS Steam store. You'll see shyt like Rocket League, Civ, Divinity, ARK, etc. If you're mostly gonna be on console I would just fukk around with that and look at the specs on each page (you should be good with your setup anyway). The Mac App Store will also have some games like Deus Ex and Hitman. And I guess you could fukk around with external GPUs but that would be more for video work imo.Let me preface by saying I'm not a PC gamer.
I'm looking at getting another iMac for my recording studio (because the majority of the software I use specifically for recording, production, and video editing is for Mac only).
These are the specs:
For the audio work I do this set up will be a monster. (I know I could get much more bang for my buck on a windows platform but again, I'm already heavily invested in mac software financially and skill set wise).
- 4.2GHz quad-core 7th-generation Intel Core i7 processor, Turbo Boost up to 4.5GHz
- 16GB 2400MHz DDR4
- 1TB SSD
- Radeon Pro 580 with 8GB video memory
- 27" 5K display
My question is, just out of curiosity, what games would I be able to play on this thing and what kind of performance could I expect.
Again, I'm not heavy into PC games and don't plan on getting into them either. If anything I could see myself playing Diablo3, Hearthstone, Half Life, and couple PS1 era and older roms from time to time. 9 times out of 10 I don't touch my computer unless I'm doing something for the studio business.
*Side note: I saw that via thunderbolt 3 this setup has the capability to use external GPU.
Don't kill me for this, ya'll know my thing is console gaming.
Yeah I started getting into video work this year. My previous mac is a much "weaker" set up compared to this one and I was able to fun my video programs and edit 1080P video with all kinds off effects and what not at a time with no problem. I suppose in the future if the video aspect of the business gets more lucrative I can look into external GPUs but for now, I have no doubt this will work for the projects I have on my plate. Before looking at GPUs I have to get a 4K camera anyway.I would just browse through the Mac OS Steam store. Rig is more than enough to play those games that you listed. Is this the 2015 iMac Pro?Let me preface by saying I'm not a PC gamer.

Rig is more than enough to play those games that you listed. Is this the 2015 iMac Pro? You won't have an issue running games at 1440p.
It's the latest model currently available. My job is paying 100% of my college tuition. I'm getting this computer for free essentially.I just checked how much that 2017 iMac configuration is and it came out to 3,299,00.
Why not spend that money on the new iMac Pro? It's coming out on December. Now that I've looked into that GPU that comes with it. You won't be playing games at a high setting or high res. Overwatch isn't GPU intensive but Destiny and PUBG, you're gonna have to play at lower settings. It's the latest model currently available. My job is paying 100% of my college tuition. Apple products are hella overpriced. Imagine the monster I could get on a windows machine with that kind of budget. Like I said though, I'm heavily invested in mac software due to my recording studio. I'd like to get a windows machine in the future, but for now, the priority is to improve on what I'm already very comfortable with.
My old imac that has a quad core i7 from 2009 and 32 GB of ram could run star craft 2 at max, or near max settings with no problem. I also ran doom 3, half life, counter strike, rust, and a few other games with very good performance. I was just wondering with this new set up, would I be able to potentially play some of the newer games like Overwatch, PUBG, Destiny 2, even if the settings were turned down. (Which again, wouldn't bother me because I game solely on console. My experience with PC gaming has been more interest based than an actual hobby. I enjoyed Star Craft 2 and Half Life like crazy though)
Because due to the way the tuition reimbursement and financial aid is set up I had to make a decision now. Trust me, I was looking at the iMac Pro but I have to request the funds up front with an exact amount now. I was half tempted to submit the price for a maxed out mac pro for over $5,000 but didn't want to try my luck. The funds wont be released to me anyway until early 2018 so who knows, I might be able to swing an imac pro anyway and pay the difference out of pocket. We'll see. For now, I'm setting my expectations on that build that I mentioned. Why not spend that money on the new iMac Pro? It's coming out on December. Now that I've looked into that GPU that comes with it.
