The 960M should be able to display a 4K desktop just fine with updated drivers.hell no I'm not gaming at 4K. But I do watch some 4K youtube videos. The gaming aint the issue. It's the desktop at 4K resolution
GeForce GTX 960M this is used for rendering games. It works well. The games I wanna play aren't demanding
The Intel Graphics Card handles the display and desktop and thats where problems start.
I can't have more than one window up at a time otherwise it gets laggy as hell moving the cursor on the desk top. But once the cursor overlays on an open window, it's smooth. It's weird
I have 8gb of ram. Would 16gb help? Should I get a SDD?
Dell curved us all, they put 4K on there and knew gullible people would buy it but this laptop aint built to handle 4K even for simple browsing. Unless theres something causing it.

What CPU is in there? You probably have a slow ass hard drive too. Monitor your temps, your shyt might be throttling down if it's getting too hot. What does your resource manager say? 8GB is usually fine for most people, but not sure how demanding your work is.
Maybe, but Dell has actually toned that down significantly over the years. I tried a 2-1 a few months back and had minimal bloatware installed.could be all that Dell bloatware
