It's not that it's normal breh it's about the fact that you're taking one part of a whole and making it the whole. To say nothing of the director, the actors, the producers, who are black. To say nothing of the years Cube spent trying to get it done, having to hustle his ass off to get it done and get it done right. Or the fact that they got a black man to tell the story through his lens and his understanding and his context. The movie has credited writers but that's an F Gary Gray film straight up.

I'm not disagreeing with that but I'm saying that there have been white writers or producers or whomever involved with black art. Especially in film and tv. Compton being written by white people doesn't make it less black to me when its a movie about black men, produced by black men and directed by a black man. When Cube and Dre were on set everyday making sure everything was working the way it was supposed to, that's a black film. And I don't recall anyone, including them, saying it didn't feel authentic because of the color of the people using the keyboard.

Word. All Cube, Dre and Gray did was hire people who are good at their craft to write their story. It doesn't make it any less black.
