However to answer your question, of course I would want an AR-15 in that situation. However I would ALSO want rocket launcher, land mines, a 50 man X-Com squad, Iron Man's suit and ANYTHING and EVERYTHING that could prove to be an asset to protect my family.


That said, IF I have a way to have access to all those weapons, SO do the gang of thugs. The more weapons available, the bigger the threat you have to face. The example you presented makes no sense in that if guns were banned, you would not have your AR-15 and guns are not banned EVERYONE would have an AR-15. This ain't the middle ages anymore. I NEVER said I was for banning guns. If you think I did, please find the post where I said that.



What you are failing to understand (especially with that nonsensical example you gave) is that mearly having a gun will not keep you safe from another person or group with guns. AT BEST it puts you on a level playing field and at worst, you are still outmanned and out gunned. Multiple people with guns is not keeping more people safe necessarily because its more likely to turn into a war zone. What you WANT are well trained and rational people with the best guns to watch over everyone.
