FSU is beatable, look at how close we were the last 2 years with Golden. Richt wins that game last year

OL will be better for Brad, and defensively just force Maguire into action. respect Cook, keep 8 in the box and see if he can put up some points. i respect their talent level, but without a top QB im not scared of them at all

Al-Quadin Muhammad said the new approach “will be beneficial to everyone.” And he said he appreciates that Kuligowski “takes time to coach each individual.”

McIntosh put it this way: “You're not out there second guessing. Once you see something, you're going. A lot more thinking, a lot more assignments, in the old system.”

McIntosh said he sometimes forgets and finds “myself standing at the line” – something the former staff asked of defensive tackles at times. The new style is the opposite, calling for the tackles to attack.

The D tackles were taught to stand at the line???? They're having to un-learn that now??? :scust:

that doesnt sound right, hes been practicing all camp except for one day for an exam. i know him and AQM are due to go in front of a disciplinary board, but i thought it was viewed as a minor offense

S Cedric Wright is on campus and participating, leaves Mullins as the last one left. Dionte will be far behind Richards and Bruce this year, but im hoping we get him in at some point

Wright is interesting, not nearly as highly rated as Finley but i think he can play. had 26 tackles in a game last year

At this point, people inside the football program will be surprised if Al Quadin Muhammad and Jermaine Grace are not disciplined for their role in taking luxury rental cars in exchange for unspecified benefits to the South Beach car rental dealer who gave them the cars.

So barring a change of heart (which can never be ruled out), UM people are expecting discipline in terms of a game suspension if not more. The question is how extensive the discipline will be.

Let's be clear here: I am not reporting they definitely will be suspended. I am reporting that people inside the football program are expecting discipline/suspension, though those people are not the very few making the final decision.

Both remained on the roster as of noon today, though AQM missed practice for what Richt called a personal reason. Richt expects him back Friday.

Our Susan Miller Degnan reported that Muhammad and Grace met with UM's compliance office Wednesday. Though the Palm Beach Post reported the two players will have a hearing on the matter, but AD Blake James told SMD there is "no disciplinary hearing pending." Check out SMD's report here.

The issue apparently extends beyond receiving use of the luxury vehicles. It also concerns how candid at least one of the two players has been in discussing exactly what he did and who he knows and how much he knows.

As we first reported, the agency involved is South Beach Exotic Car Rentals. The company's owner, Juan Caballero, initially insisted to me, over several minutes, that he knows nothing about the UM football team and doesn't know the name of a single player.

Caballero hasn't returned calls since, but his social media messages - posted on Canes message boards - suggest at least a familiarity with specific UM players.

If Grace misses time, that could mean UM starting three freshmen at linebackers - Shaq Quarterman, Mike Pinckney and Zach McCloud.

Would that freak out Manny Diaz? "Since we've been here, we've had freshmen in our starting lineup," Diaz said. "To me, we don't have freshmen and sophomores. We don't have that luxury. On a normal college team, the difference with experience is they've been in a system for a long period. it's a unique situation for the young players to come into because everyone came in on equal ground."

Charles Perry, like McCloud, is also playing strongside behind Grace. And Darrion Owens and Jamie Gordinier are challenging Pinckney at weakside. Quarterman is the likely starter in the middle.

• Richt said "we plan on" receiver Dionte Mullins "being here." He's the only freshman who hasn't enrolled.

Freshman safety Cedric Wright arrived today and practiced. "It's going to be a crash course," Diaz said. "We need him because of our lack of depth [in the secondary]."

• Sheldrick Redwine told me that he is taking the majority of first-team snaps opposite Corn Elder, with Adrian Colbert also getting some. "We alternate a little bit."

• Richt singled out right tackle Sunny Odogwu. "Sunny looks very good; that's a little bit of news. He's healthy. He looks quick. He's energized."

• Manny Diaz said Richard McIntosh and Kendrick Norton remain the team's top defensive tackles after the scrimmage. "Those guys are really playing well." But he said Gerald Willis, Courtel Jenkins and Anthony Moten also are playing well.

• This was absolutely eye-opening today, more evidence of the dramatically improved coaching: Demetrius Jackson, playing with his hand in the ground at defensive end, said "I am able to do things with my hands I couldn't do last year. [Defensive line coach Craig Kuligowski] is bringing more skill to the game. He is a great coach exposing us to the next level. I trust him because of his resume."

Jackson said the previous staff never taught him how to use his hands. Stunning, and an indictment of that staff.

Diaz said today that "Demetrius has changed his body, can play more stoutly than he did in the spring."

• Though Jaquan Johnson forced two fumbles in the scrimmage, Diaz said he also made "two errors that kind of cost the framework of the defense. It's hard to make a mistake at safety and have the whole world not notice."

• Diaz said Ryan Mayes - competing for the No. 4 corner job - "has been performing every day." He had a pick in the scrimmage.

• Richt said on further review, Mayes did not return Brad Kaaya's interception for a touchdown. "Joe Yearby, of all people, turned and ran like a mad man and knocked him out of bounds."

• Diaz said defensive end "Trent Harris is smart, tough and relentless. He made plays yesterday sheer on his relentless effort."

man hopefully its no more than 1-2 games

i like Trent Harris alot, you win with effort guys like that. Jackson (both Dee and Joseph) have the big upside, but i like having DL like Trent who work their way into the backfield and are just a dog in general

Barry is being dramatic as usual in that report, Owens would play over McCloud he just has to heal. and Gordinier has had a nice camp, yes LB is thin but i think its a 2 game susp at best. hopefully its nothing Quad has alot of money at stake this year

this team gonna surprise a lot of people..we're stacked at the 2 most important positions, QB and DL

FSU is very beatable this year, I don't like some of these comments in here "we can win the Coastal with a loss to FSU" nah fukk that!

we literally gotta do what Houston did in the bowl game against them, attack like a muhfukka, don't let Dalvin Cook even get out of the backfield. Them nikkas did it with 2 and 3 star players, we should be able to as well. Our offense is more than equipped to put enough points on FSU to win.

and recruiting is looking great - everything I'm hearing is positive about how Richt is connecting with local coaches and players. If we can show on the field improvement, no more losing Dalvin Cook to FSU, Amari Cooper and Calvin Ridley to Bama, Hargreaves to Florida, etc.

Thats my Cornerback:to:

take in the fact that Golden actually told this kid he can get a Miami offer if he grew 2 inches :snoop:

TAKE IT IN brehs, this lifelong Cane fan and consensus 4* DB almost went to fukking Oklahoma because of Golden

I know most college football fans, our rivals included, know that Golden was a bad coach, but I honestly don't think they realize just how incompetent he was.

They gonna find out soon enough though - I called it when Golden was fired, that if Miami made the right coaching decision, this is a turnkey operation; we already got studs at the key positions and kids in South Florida still love the U. Our little brother up in Tally better enjoy Dalvin Cook, Travis Rudolph, Tarvarus McFadden, etc type players while they're getting them because in 2 years, those nikkas are back with us

their defense will be better this year, with the potential to be REALLY good. Dalvin Cook is.....incredible. it will be tough with the LBs having basically zero experience. Canes def had a chance to beat them the last 2 seasons. if Kaaya could have put together a 4th quarter drive in either year.

couldnt believe Al didnt offer Bandy, its just a small peak into recruiting evaluations gone wrong. and even the hits were poorly coached

just look at that vid Alex just posted, the players have a different look already. the lines were fat last year, Norton and McIntosh still had the baby weight and the OL just looked sloppy. Odogwu and Gall played like they looked, hopefully they gain some agility and the highly rated guys like Darling/McD and Linder step up. Njoku has added weight and maintained speed, Brad has put on some solid weight, off season program seems to be paying off. Felder seems to have a good bond with the team, i like that hire alot

this is, without question the weirdest schedule ive seen in my 22+ years following the program. nothing until week 5, then 3 ranked teams in a month. we have alot of time to figure out rotations, and get young guys game reps.
