Some people I this thread have no football memories outside the premier league era, it want always international superstars flexing ball control skills.

People would've been angry as fukk watching George Graham's teams defend their way to cups.

You're lucky the pass back rule was abolished or that France game would've definately stayed one nil.

Liverpool in the eighties was sick for that, boring but effective.

(personally, I like the pass back rule is gone, was fukking boring watching Hansen pass back to the keeper for 60 minutes  )

How typical to just blast that "Americans don't know futbol" nonsense just because we called out England for that lackluster performance. England only had 3 shots on target compared to France's 15. (so I will admit ENG defended well). But overall you guys were overmatched and LUCKY that France didn't actually capitalize.
Cant remember any clear cut french chances tbh.

Its not like chelsea against bayern and barca and napoli and benfica where they went and fluked it based on nothing but luck and ref help. France didnt create much. I never felt france would score, even when they scored. so doesnt count really, morally it was a 1-0 victory.

I give the benefit of the doubt since Rooney was out, but I don't see how England fans aren't disappointed.
I see. Upset that your little Time magazine article didnt quite come off. Well ho-fooking-hum.

And by little I mean big. A whole fookin edition. England on the brain much?

There were always international superstars with ball control skills. If they werent playing in england back then thats your business.

I remember ray houghton tearing some clueless kid up who called in talking about "the game is more skillful citing messi and ronaldo. Never heard a man so angry on the radio in all my life. In fairness it was a good troll.

France were actually more negative than England yesterday.

They hardly committed anybody to attack and didn’t force the issue. People really think France were playing attractive and attacking football? Fack me, this is the absolute worst era in football.

Possession of the ball means very little if you’re doing nothing with it like France were for large spells.

Having the ball and doing nothing with it is even more cowardly than sitting back and looking to counter.

This.

England were actually the more aggressive side at the beginning of the match. France's back line would knock the ball back and forth between themselves forever before advancing it.

It's the whole "possession kills" theory.

Well it very often doesn't unless you have special players who are good enough to play through teams(i.e. Barca).

France don't have those players, their best chance outside the goal was from a set piece. Their goal was poor closing down and Hart seeing it a millisecond too late.

I never sat there fearing we'd concede like i'm sure Chelsea fans were against Barca, so those comparisons can do one.

Outside of the goals we made the best chance of the game early on where Milner should have buried it.

On the possession thing. For all the wanking over Swansea last season, they finished level on points with their fellow promoted team Norwich, who played a much less possession based game, which imo, was more attractive.
