Officially i think they struggled for the gun and kelsey pulled the trigger by accident. One thing i would like to point out though. Pleading the 5th doesn't automatically mean you're guilty of something. It just means you don't want to say something that could incriminate yourself.
Example: say there's a murder in an apartment and there are no witnesses. For some reason you were walking in the hallway in the timeframe the murder took place even though you had nothing to do with it. If questioned, it could make sense to plead the fifth eventhough you're innocent. The fact you were close by could still incriminate you in some way.
