To me the options are:

Intermittent lockdowns indefinitely until a vaccine

or

Recommending remote work, social distancing, limits on social gatherings, and tight restrictions on LTCH until vaccine.

Both options have costs, but problem is people who advocate the first one are not clear about its costs.

Yeah if they did option one that @thatrapsfan proposed from the very beginning, then this would be easier to contain. But people aren't compliant here and they would've never accepted it.

The procrastinating, mixed messaging and poor implementation of public measures did us no favours and there are no easy answers at this point

All you can do is hope that this dumbass provincial government will learn from their mistakes and not reopen public spaces too early again

Do we have any clear evidence that gyms are a clear source of spread? I think its a fantasy to think Ontario is one or two shutdowns away from turning into New Zealand. Transmission will never go down to zero when its already this widespread in the community.

If these new restrictions don't show any effect, we are gonna hear people screaming for schools to be shut down, even though they very clearly are not a source of transmission. Also will be very hard for the Government to remove the restrictions after 28 days. Public has learned to view shut downs as the only way to address this virus.

Indoor dining does have a big effect on spread

You're not wearing a mask while eating and droplets spread easily. Plus these places aren't cleaning down properly as they don't have the staff

I feel sorry for restaurants as this is such a big hit also feel bad for gyms

I had to Get a covid test and between booking an appointment and awaiting for results I'm off work for about 2 weeks unpaid

Can I claim the relief benefit for those 2 weeks?

Damn that suck's to hear, our numbers in Ottawa don't seem crazy yet hopefully it doesn't shoot up something crazy.
i know what you mean, I have to go campus to do my labs still then I go straight home. We have Security that
are supposed to screen you before coming in but they doing shyt all except maybe asking you in you're a student... you say yes, and go on your way

what's crazy is, i'm hearing and seeing random people hanging out around the school.
ISeen a few guys i know from my area on campus, and they said they're studying together but they had the ball game on
