It couldn't have been done unilaterally - Trump woudlve gotten pissed and shut down the border for all trade too then we wouldve truly been screwed. Food shortages in a week if there was a total border closure.
The same people complaining about the Government wouldve talked about Trudeau being naive about Trump. He handled this well.
