:damn: 14-year old kidnapped over drug debt.
WARMINGTON: Shammah Jolayemi abduction is real-life drama

Deal with shark brehs
This has my blood boiling. Parents didn’t get notified until 6 pm?! Amber Alert almost 16 hrs after he went missing. The school has some explaining to do. This young man must be terrified and should not pay for his step brother’s fukk ups. Kids should be off-limit, period. I hope they bring him home safely, but the emotional repercussions will stay with him forever.

Messed up situation. I don't want to speculate what happened at the school, but no one could imagine this is what happened.

I've been telling you all, this city is getting nasty. Every year it feels like the GTA loses a bit of it's soul.

They dropped the ball. They usually call at 11am or 6pm. They missed the first call session for whatever reason. Obviously they’re not to blame for what happened and thankfully the best possible outcome happened with him being found safe. But, hopefully this will result in a more stringent and diligent policy to ensure parents are made aware of their children’s absence from class as quickly as possible. If anything had happened to him, I’m sure the school staff wouldn’t have forgiven themselves.

The older stepbrother, Olalekan Osikoya, whose actions are believed to have triggered the kidnapping, “is not a good boy and he’s not cooperating,” said Adeleke.

The kidnapped teen was checked medically and returned to his elated family in North York.

“The kidnappers were essentially given the backdoor route — release the child unharmed now — or face the full brunt of police,” said a Sun source. “But the exchange ended with a ‘catch you later.’ There’s no free out from this crime for these kidnappers.”

Insp. Steven Watts delivered a stern, but respectful, message to the hostage-takers Thursday night during a televised news conference: “You need to release Shammah.”

“I appreciate the high-level cocaine business and the situation that faces (Osikoya), but this is a 14-year-old innocent child — he is not part of that business, not part of that lifestyle,” said Watts. “The full weight of the Toronto Police will be brought to bear.”

“Our first priority was rescuing Shammah Jolayemi,” Chief Mark Saunders told the Toronto Sun. “Now, our priority is capturing those responsible for this crime.”

An outstanding police operation — headed by Watts — culminated in the safe return of the teen, whose life was jeopardized allegedly because Osikoya, 26, stole cocaine valued at between $4 million and $5 million last summer.

Police warned the victim’s family there could be reprisals.

And a Sun source says the family was told “their lives were all in jeopardy.”

Emergency wire-taps obtained by police enabled officers to rescue kidnap victim, a source said.

“Those wiretaps tracing communications between the kidnappers and the family helped officers pinpoint the victim’s location,” the source said.

It’s rumoured that Okikoya has bolted to Montreal, but police have so far only confirmed the man has fled the GTA.

Osikoya has an almost non-existent criminal record. Last month, he received a conditional discharge on allegations he ripped off $6,000 by impersonating people to obtain additional credit and bank cards to make purchases and withdrawals. He provided full restitution as part of the resolution.

He had a previous peace bond stemming from a domestic dispute and a diversion from a shoplifting charge.
