School example you guys refer to is very different than passport people typically envision for day to day life. Given reality of Canadian federal system, find it very hard to believe anything widespread will be successfully rolled out.
Besides the logistics, can we explain what the problem a vaccine passport is supposed to resolve? We have among the highest vaccination rates in the world.
Is this to protect the unvaccinated or vaccinated? If latter, there’s still no proof that any variant will lead to widespread breakthrough of severe cases among fully vaccinated. If you’re fully vaccinated ( I am), why even sweat the very small percentage of people holding out?
Not to mention the places that have very low vaccination rates in Ontario, aren’t what people typically picture. Prisons, homeless population, poor neighbourhoods with high visible minority all have lower vaccination rates than general population. I don’t see how general vaccine passport will address any of those areas? Mandate it for hospitals, LTCH, and school teachers so there’s no excuse to close schools again and move on with life.
